  • Publication number: 20180130500
Abstract: A technique for determining annotation items associated with video information is described. During this annotation technique, a content item that includes audio information and the video information is received. For example, a file may be downloaded from a uniform resource locator. Then, the audio information is extracted from the content item, and the audio information is analyzed to determine features or descriptors that characterize the audio information. Note that the features may be determined solely by analyzing the audio information or may be determined by subsequent further analysis of at least some of the video information based on the analysis of the audio information (i.e., sequential or cascaded analysis). Next, annotation items or tags associated with the video information are determined based on the features.

  • Patent number: 9002776
Abstract: An apparatus, and related method, for identifying one or more association variables is described. The apparatus includes at least one processor, at least one memory, and at least one program module stored in the memory configured to be executed by the processor. The program module includes instructions for selecting a subset of temporal onsets in a set of temporal onsets, instructions for determining a statistical relationship between the subset and a pattern of occurrence of a variable, and instructions for identifying the variable as an association variable in accordance with the statistical relationship. The subset includes one or more first temporal onsets corresponding to one or more instances of an event, and the set of temporal onsets includes the subset of temporal onsets and one or more second temporal onsets corresponding to one or more instances of a reoccurrence event.

  • Publication number: 20120143907
Abstract: Embodiments of a computer system to determine one or more annotation items associated with an audio file are described. During operation, the computer system provides an interactive environment in which multiple users listen to the audio file within a time interval. Next, the computer system receives one or more annotation items associated with the audio file from the multiple users. Then, the computer system displays the received one or more annotation items from the multiple users in the interactive environment, thereby enabling the multiple users to provide feedback to a given user in the multiple users.
