  • Patent number: 6039314
Abstract: A self-filling storage device for memory cards has at least one storage container having a storage compartment. The storage compartment has a common opening for receiving and releasing memory cards. A cover plate for covering the common opening is provided. The cover plates has a first face facing the storage compartment and a second face facing away from the storage compartment. The cover plate is further provided with a cutout. At least one separating roller is positioned in the storage container at the second face and has a first position in which the separating roller projects through the cutout into the storage compartment against a return force. The separating roller acts on a memory card positioned in the storage compartment at the first face or acts on a memory card positioned at the second face for insertion into the storage compartment.

  • Patent number: 5992474
Abstract: In a dispensing device for dispensing liquid fuel from at least one underground storage tank through at least one fuel nozzle, wherein the liquid fuel is conveyed by a fuel pump from the underground storage tank to the fuel nozzle, wherein the amount of liquid fuel dispensed is measured by a measuring device including an impulse sender, wherein vapors are removed from the fuel tank to be filled by a vapor pump via a vapor removal opening provided at the fuel nozzle and returned into the underground storage tank via a vapor return line, the measuring device includes a computer producing data sets comprised of address bits, data bits, and check bits for a display correlated with the fuel pump, for a control unit of the vapor pump in order to control pumping output depending on the dispensed amount of liquid fuel, and for a central computing unit of a gas station.

  • Patent number: 5546242
Abstract: A device for writing on a card-shaped data memory with at least one magnetic strip on the card-shaped data memory has a card slot through which the card-shaped data memory is guided. The card slot has an inlet and an outlet. One pair of write heads and at least one sensor are provided for each of the magnetic strips on the card-shaped data memory. The write heads are arranged on opposite sides of the Card slot for writing on the magnetic strip. The at least one sensor is positioned at the inlet of the card slot for detecting the presence or absence of the magnetic strip coordinated therewith. The at least one sensor, when detecting the presence of the magnetic strip coordinated therewith, switches to an inactive state one of the write heads of the pair that is positioned on a side of the card slot remote from the magnetic strip.

  • Patent number: 5055657
Abstract: A vending-type machine for goods and/or services, and a method of operating the same. The machine has a computer that is connected via a data communication line with a central computer located in a central office. In order, despite the absence of an intermediate cash box for bills received during an interrupted payment process, to be able to protect against fraudulent refunds for equivalent values on vouchers issued by such machines, a plain language as well as machine-readable coded data entry is printed on the voucher, with this data entry, in addition to the value of the bill, also containing the location indication of the particular machine, and the actual date and time in seconds. This data entry is entered in a data-protected memory of the machine, and is entered via the data communication line in a data-protected memory of the central computer.

  • Patent number: 4527577
Abstract: A device for automatic cashiers, for example in vending machines, for the sale of goods or for dispensing services, for storing coins. The device has a slot for coins, a subsequently-arranged storage channel, a return slot, and a coin-collecting opening. A spiral spring for receiving respective coins between adjacent turns of the spring is disposed in the storage channel. The spring can be rotated at least one full turn in either direction by a motor. In order structurally to simplify and reduce the space required by such devices, which can be used either as intermediate storage devices or as remaining-money storage devices, the storage channel is constructed as a lateral guide for the spiral spring, and the return slot is offset relative to the money slot by at least one pitch of the spiral spring. The money slot is disposed on one side of the storage channel, and the return slot is disposed on the other side thereof.
