The lithium and the vanadium are included in a mole ratio within a range of 1.15?Li/V?1.35, and the magnesium and the vanadium are included in a mole ratio within a range of 0.01?Mg/V?0.06. The present invention provides a negative active material for a lithium ion battery having a stable crystal structure, excellent high rate of charge and discharge, and good charge and discharge cycle characteristics.
