    Abstract: A device for attaching to a free end of a measuring tape includes at least two substantially plate-shaped parts which can be fitted together. The free end of the measuring tape is secured between the two parts. One of the plate-shaped parts should include a flat side corresponding with the zero point of the scale indication on the measuring tape and the device may optionally include a hook for gripping objects to be measured. The plate-shaped parts cooperate to secure and properly align the end of the measuring tape without deforming the tape, thereby increasing operating life.
