  • Patent number: 11019640
Abstract: An apparatus has a first communication module that is compatible with a first wireless communication technology, and a second communication module that is compatible with a second, different, wireless communication technology. Transmissions by each communication module may contribute to interference at the other communication module. In one example, a Block Acknowledgement Request is transmitted by the apparatus during a downlink period of the second communication module so that the Block Acknowledgement transmitted in response is received during the downlink period. In another example, the apparatus calculates a maximum size of A-MPDU to receive and notifies an access point of that maximum size. In a further example, the apparatus, having notified an access point of operation in a power save mode, polls the access point for buffered frames at the start of a downlink period of the second communication module.

  • Publication number: 20190200489
Abstract: A cooling unit having a liquid coolant flow through the cooling unit and a gas coolant flow through the cooling unit is controlled using a temperature signal representing a present temperature associated with equipment cooled by the cooling unit and a delayed-effect variable signal representing a variable having a potentially delayed impact on the temperature associated with the equipment cooled by the cooling unit. A thermal system model to which the temperature signal, the delayed-effect variable signal, the liquid coolant flow and the gas coolant flow are inputs is used to calculate a projected future temperature associated with the equipment. Responsive to the projected future temperature, coolant flow is adjusted to target the projected future temperature toward a set-point by adjusting the liquid coolant flow and the gas coolant flow. The delayed-effect variable signal may represent, for example, a processing workload or a current drawn by the equipment.

  • Publication number: 20190020705
Abstract: A method for encoding real-time media for wireless transmission from a source device to a sink device over a wireless transmission channel is disclosed. The method comprises encoding the media for the wireless transmission so that a size of the encoded media does not exceed an available bandwidth between the source device and the sink device during on a time allocation for wireless transmission when the available bandwidth is less than a hardware-based throughput constraint of one or both of the source device and the sink device, or encoding the media for wireless transmission so that a size of the encoded media does not exceed a hardware-based throughput constraint when an available bandwidth between the source device and the sink device during on a time allocation for wireless transmission is greater than or equal to the hardware-based throughput constraint.

  • Patent number: 10091267
Abstract: A method for encoding real-time media for wireless transmission from a source device to a sink device over a wireless transmission channel is disclosed. The method comprises encoding media for the wireless transmission based on a minimum of (i) an available bandwidth between the source device and the sink device for the wireless transmission based on a time allocation of the source device for wireless transmission or (ii) a throughput constraint for the wireless transmission based on a hardware limitation associated with one or both of the source device and the sink device; and wirelessly transmit the encoded media from the source device to the sink device.

  • Patent number: 10051441
Abstract: A device in a peer-to-peer (P2P) group has the role of group owner. A different device in the P2P group may take on the role of group owner without ending the P2P group and create a new P2P group. Multiple P2P groups may be merged into a single P2P group. A single P2P group may be split into multiple independent P2P groups, each with its own group owner. A group owner of a P2P group may notify the client devices in the P2P group that it is about to leave the P2P group. A client device in a P2P group may be appointed in a new role of backup group owner, to take on the role of group owner in the event of a departure of the group owner, thereby providing continuity. Techniques for maintaining upper layer continuity through changes in topology of P2P groups are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9826429
Abstract: In some implementations, a method of a wireless local area network (WLAN) transmitter includes, in response to interference with a long term evolution (LTE) receiver, determining a de-sense value of the LTE receiver; determining a transmission rate for the WLAN transmitter, the transmission rate requiring an equal or lower receiver sensitivity than a received signal strength threshold; determining a frame aggregation size based on the transmission rate and an LTE frame configuration for the LTE receiver; determining a transmission power based on the de-sense value; and transmitting data during a downlink receiving period of the LTE receiver using the transmission rate, the frame aggregation size, and the transmission power.

  • Patent number: 9654999
Abstract: These teachings provide for transmitting to a wireless access point a sleep status indicator for a wireless transceiver. These teachings then provide for delaying having that wireless transceiver enter a sleep mode of operation until at least a predetermined period of time following transmission of the wireless transceiver sleep status indicator. These teachings also provide for determining a need to slow down a rate of receiving data from the wireless access point via the wireless transceiver. In this case the aforementioned sleep status indicator is transmitted in response to determining that need to slow down the rate of receiving data from the wireless access point.

  • Patent number: 9525714
Abstract: A method, wireless communication device, and computer readable medium, are disclosed, for encoding real-time media for wireless transmission from a source to a sink over a wireless transmission channel. The wireless device initiates a peer-to-peer communication session between the sink and the source, then determines based on a time-allocation for the wireless transmission, an available bandwidth for the wireless transmission. The wireless device then encodes the real-time media for the wireless transmission based on the available bandwidth or a throughput constraint.
