  • Patent number: 7505775
Abstract: A method of verifying of a mobile subscriber station that is in an idle-mode includes requesting to a base station by the mobile subscriber station to enter an idle-mode, wherein the base station is associated with a paging group comprising a plurality of base stations, and receiving from the base station an idle-mode response command to enter the idle-mode. The method also includes receiving from the base station a paging command comprising an action code associated with performing ranging while the mobile subscriber station is in the idle-mode to verify availability of the mobile subscriber station with respect to the base station, wherein if the ranging is not successfully preformed with the base station during a predetermined period, the base station continues to transmit the paging command until a paging retrial count reaches a predetermined threshold.

  • Publication number: 20080153491
Abstract: A method of communicating data in a wireless communication system is disclosed. More specifically, a method discloses transmitting a request by a mobile subscriber station (MSS) to a network entity via a de-registration request message requesting the network entity to retain a preferred session information, and receiving a selected session information via a de-registration command response from the network entity.

  • Publication number: 20080056195
Abstract: In a case where the serving base station sets Scan Duration of the MOB-SCN-RSP message to 0 to reject a scan request from the mobile subscriber station as seen from above, the following two problems occur. First, because the mobile subscriber station does not know the reason why the scan request is denied, it may request scanning of neighbor base stations again by sending a scan request message to the serving base station before performing periodic ranging. In this case, the serving base station must reject again the scan request from the mobile subscriber station through a scanning response message, and thus an unnecessary exchange of a MAC message, and thus an unnecessary exchange of station and the serving base station. Such an unnecessary MAC message exchange becomes one of the causes of the waste of wireless resources and deteriorates the MAC processing efficiency.

  • Publication number: 20080037472
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method of providing and receiving an MBS during handover in a broadband wireless access system enabling a mobile subscriber station (MSS) in a handover state to seamlessly receive the MBS. The MSS receives MBS-related information with which at least one neighbor BS provides the MBS from a serving BS before handover. The MSS is provided with the MBS seamlessly from a target BS selected from the at least one neighbor BS based on the MBS-related information of the target BS after handover.

  • Publication number: 20080031160
Abstract: A paging method in a broadcast wireless access system, and more particularly, a method of allocating a paging cycle to a mobile subscriber station in idle mode is disclosed, by which various paging cycles can be allocated to mobile subscriber stations in idle mode. In allocating a paging cycle to a mobile subscriber station in a communication system supporting an idle mode, the present invention includes the steps or receiving a request of a specific paging cycle from the mobile subscriber station, computing a substantial paging cycle to be allocated to the mobile subscriber station using the specific paging cycle requested from the mobile subscriber station and a basic paging cycle used in common in a paging group to which a serving base station of the mobile subscriber station belongs, and allocating the computed paging cycle to the mobile subscriber station.

  • Publication number: 20070243910
Abstract: A method of controlling an idle mode in a broadband wireless access system is disclosed, in which paging information is allocated to a mobile subscriber station to enter an idle mode via a base station belonging to at least two paging groups and in which the idle mode is efficiently controlled by improving a method of changing paging information of a mobile subscriber station in idle mode. The present invention includes the steps of receiving a message requesting a transition to the idle mode from a mobile subscriber station, transmitting paging information for the entire paging groups of the base station to the mobile subscriber station, and transmitting a paging message to the mobile subscriber station according to the paging information of each of the paging groups to which the base station belongs.
