  • Patent number: 10743825
Abstract: A method and apparatus for acquiring a radiographic image of a patient includes using an X-ray source and at least a X-ray detector supported in opposed positions, the area under investigation being positioned between the X-ray source and detector in the propagation bundle of the radiation emitted by the X-ray source, the X-ray source and detector being movable along a pre-set trajectory due to at least two movements. The X-ray dose administered to a patient can be adjusted automatically, dispensing the minimum dose necessary to achieve a radiographic image of good quality. The method and apparatus provide for performing a scout acquisition, preceding the acquisition of a real panoramic image, in a particularly efficient way. During the scout acquisition, data are collected for adjusting the X-ray dose for the following radiographic image acquisition.

  • Patent number: 10448902
Abstract: Method and apparatus for acquiring volumetric CBCT radiographies in an apparatus having a rotary supporting arm, at the ends of which at least an X-ray source and at least an X-ray sensor are positioned, the supporting arm rotating the at least one source and the at least one sensor around a patient. The method includes the steps of positioning a patient on the positioning device, and acquiring a CBCT image through a trajectory having an angular extension lower than 360°, wherein the rotation center of the trajectory of the X-ray sensor is never on the median sagittal plane defined by the patient positioned inside the apparatus and the trajectory is not symmetric to any of the possible sagittal planes of the patient.

  • Patent number: 10441227
Abstract: A cephalostat for acquiring teleradiographic images through an extraoral radiographic apparatus includes a pair of earpieces at the ends of two shafts and a small bar for resting again the nasion, these components being manually adjustable to adjust them to the skull of the patient under examination, wherein the cephalostat is free from metallic elements in the parts on which X-rays impinge, with the exception of radio-opaque markers, and is interchangeable with a craniostat fixed in the same apparatus seat.

  • Patent number: 9427197
Abstract: A method for obtaining a panoramic image similar to a panoramic radiography obtained from a patient through X-ray emission by processing an acquired 3D digital volume in voxel, each voxel having values of X-ray absorption is characterized by selecting a curved surface in 3D volume and identifying a plurality of first points on the curved surface and connecting each point of the identified first points with a corresponding pixel of the panoramic image to be obtained in order to map the first points of the curved surface on corresponding pixels of the panoramic image. Each identified point of the first points are associated with a respective set of lines passing through the identified point, each line having a different angle of incidence. The lines are contained in a solid angle having identified point as a vertex. An absorption value is calculated in the 3D volume along each of the lines.
