  • Patent number: 9051428
Abstract: The invention relates to branched organopolysiloxanes and to their preparation and use. A branched organopolysiloxane is prepared by the reaction of an alkoxysilane with a substantially linear organopolysiloxane containing at least one hydroxyl or hydrolysable group bonded to silicon, in the presence of a phosphazene catalyst. The branched organopolysiloxanes obtained can be suitable for use in a moisture curable sealant composition capable of curing to a high modulus seal, with less tendency to gel than when using other siloxane polycondensation catalysts. Phosphazene catalysts also have the advantage that the content of undesired low molecular weight cyclic silicones in the polymerization product is low.

  • Patent number: 8461258
Abstract: The present invention relates to an amino acid-modified organopolysiloxane emulsion obtainable by reacting (a) a carboxy-unprotected amino acid, and (b) organopolysiloxane having an epoxy group in the molecule in an aqueous medium in the presence of a surfactant, is incorporated in a cosmetic product. The present invention also relates to the simple and highly efficient production of emulsions of amino acid-modified polysiloxane, as well as the use of the emulsions as beautifying components.

  • Publication number: 20120027708
Abstract: This invention relates to the polymerization of organopolysiloxanes to form organopolysiloxanes of increased molecular weight and to the organopolysiloxane compositions thus produced. The organopolysiloxane is in admixture with a molten wax during the polymerization, thereby forming a blend of the wax with an organopolysiloxane of increased molecular weight. After the polymerisation reaction is completed, the reaction product can be cooled below the solidification temperature of the wax, for example down to room temperature. This yield a paste-like solid blend which is a very intimate dispersion of wax in organopolysiloxane or vice versa. The dispersion is surprisingly stable.
