Abstract: A rear seat assembly for a vehicle is disclosed in which the seat cushions and the seat backs may be positioned on top of one another from a flat usage position into a non-usage position. Folding the seat cushions on top of one another and, folding the seat backs on top of one another takes place in order to form the loading space in the region of the back seat arrangement. The seat cushions and the seat backs, respectively, are stowed in a compact manner in the region of the passenger car and provides sufficient space for forming the loading space in the region of the back seat arrangement.

Two front individual seats are arranged in the area of the front side doors and a rear seat arrangement is arranged in the area of the rear side doors. A column for accommodating three-point safety belts for the individual seats is mounted between the individual seats in the area of backrests of the individual seats. This column is mounted in the floor of the vehicle. The shoulder belt of the respective safety belt is mounted in the area of the upper end of the column and the lap belt of the respective safety belt is mounted in the area of the lower end of the column. In a passenger automobile without B-column, a structurally simple safety belt arrangement is provided that has a favorable design for the front individual seats.

The roof segment is designed, essentially, to fit closely with the base roof in a closed state and to provide a space in relation to base roof in an open state. The roof segment can include, but is not limited to at least one upper, relatively adjustable, roof element connected with the roof segment, and/or the base roof can include, but is not limited to at least one lower, relatively adjustable roof element connected with the base roof. Through the adjustable roof element the storage space can be open and closed. As a result, the transportation of objects is improved without significantly compromising safety.
