  • Patent number: 4420421
Abstract: A process is described for the preparation of catalysts based on molybdenum and iron oxides which comprises their controlled precipitation in an aqueous medium from sodium molybdate and a soluble ferric salt, the separation and the washing of the precipitate until its sodium content is reduced to less than 150 ppm. According to one embodiment, the sodium molybdate used as the reagent results from the action of aqueous sodium hydroxide on the spent catalyst.

  • Patent number: 4169211
Abstract: Process for the production of 2,2-(4,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl) propane comprising reacting phenol with acetone in a molar ratio of at least 2:1 but not exceeding 10:1 in the presence of an acidic agent at a temperature not exceeding 80.degree. C. to substantially complete reaction of the acetone, separating the acidic agent from the reaction product, bringing the product freed from acidic agent into contact with a material chosen from between activated carbon and active earths at a temperature in the range of from about 60.degree. to 120.degree. C. for a time in the range of from about 1 to 120 minutes and distilling the product obtained in the treatment with the active material to recover the 2,2-(4,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl-propane.

  • Patent number: 3962286
Abstract: Ethylene oxide is prepared by oxidation of ethylene on a catalyst obtained by:A. impregnating particles of a subdivided inert support with a decomposable silver salt,B. drying said impregnated particles by heating to a maximum temperature not exceeding 160.degree.C,c. flowing through the dried particles a gaseous stream of superheated steam, the temperature being raised to a selected value from 270.degree. to 350.degree.C,d. gradually replacing the steam by air over a period of at least 1 hour with the temperature being maintained at said selected value, andE. maintaining the particles for at least 30 minutes under the stream of air, with the temperature being maintained at said selected value.
