  • Patent number: 4598371
Abstract: The invention relates to an ignition control device of the microcomputer type in which a programmed microprocessor calculates the non-conduction time of the coil in order to attain a desired time for which the coil remains at maximum charge, and also calculates the time corresponding to the end of coil charge as a function of the spark advance suitable for the various engine operating conditions; the microprocessor also causes activation of the ignition coil, whereas the deactivation of the coil is controlled by a timer which counts the time corresponding to the end of coil charge on receiving reference pulses.

  • Patent number: 4581703
Abstract: The invention relates to an injection control device for an internal combustion engine, in which a programmed microprocessor calculates the open time of a plurality of electrically operated injectors as a function of prechosen engine parameters, and determines the activation of said injectors into their open state and their deactivation into their closed state with the aid of a single timer, which counts-out the calculated open time. If a second injector is opened while a first injector is still delivering the fuel, the microprocessor calculates the difference between the open time of the second injector and the remaining open time of the first injector, so as to be able to count-out the open time of the two injectors on the single timer.

  • Patent number: 4393836
Abstract: This invention relates to a system for the regulation and control of the angle of advance in the ignition unit of an internal combustion engine, which is based on the use of a properly programmed microprocessor unit which receives the input data from a set of detectors of engine parameters, processes them and finally delivers output data representative of the regulated magnitude, that is, of the angle of advance.

  • Patent number: 4346443
Abstract: This invention relates to a regulation and control system for the fuel feeding unit of an internal combustion engine, said system being based on the use of a microprocessing unit which has properly been programmed. A set of detectors of engine parameters supplies the microprocessing unit with a set of input data which are processed in the processing unit and converted into a set of output data which are representative of the regulated magnitudes, more exactly of the duration and phase setting of the fuel feed.

  • Patent number: 4323976
Abstract: This invention relates to an electronic device for taking the speed of a rotating member. In order to provide speed signals having a different degree of discrimination at the interior of a determined range of values, the device according to the invention comprises transducer means operatively connected to the rotating member to generate a first train of pulses, pulse generating means for generating a second train of pulses at a constant frequency, counting means for counting the pulses of said second train between two subsequent selected pulses of said first train, and a microprocessor for comparing the counted pulses with reference numbers comprised between predetermined minimum and maximum values corresponding to higher and lower values of a maximum speed zone of the speed range.

  • Patent number: 4233943
Abstract: A pre-ignition detecting device for an internal-combustion is disclosed, which belongs to the general type of ionization-detectors, but employs no supplementary probe near the spark plug(s).The device is electronic and comprises a circuitry in which a switching stage is capable of discriminating the signals indicating ionization at the electrodes in the cases in which the contact-breaker is open from those indicating ionization in the opposite case, that is, when pre-ignition occurs. Display devices can visualize the pre-ignition ripples and an operative stage could actuate, if so desired, the advance of ignition control in order to restore the engine to its normal run whenever necessary.
