  • Publication number: 20130165957
Abstract: Implantable prosthetic devices are provided. Such devices include substantially planar supports such as a mesh for surgical use made of polypropylene, and a porous coating membrane formed on at least one face of said support, said porous membrane being formed in situ on the support by the solvent casting technique. Methods for making such prosthetic devices are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20100282684
Abstract: Materials and methods for the selective removal of lipopolysaccharide during the purification of molecules of bio-pharmaceutical interest are based on a polymeric substrate that binds lipopolysaccharide. Preferably, the polymeric substrate is selective for at least one of heptose and 2-keto-3-deoxyoctonic acid. The substrate can be formed by a process comprising: (i) contacting a homogeneous polymer solution and a template solution; (ii) carrying out a phase inversion of the resulting solution; and (iii) removing the template.

Inventors: Paolo Costantino, Gianluca Ciardelli, Niccoletta Barbani
  • Patent number: 7754878
Abstract: Polysaccharides are functionalized using a source of free radicals which forms stable radicals on the polysaccharides structure and wherein the formed radicals reacts with a functionalized unsaturated compound. The method comprises two steps: a first step, wherein the free radical on the polysaccharides chain is formed, and a second step, wherein said radical reacts with the unsaturated compound in the absence of the radical source.
