  • Patent number: 9647436
Abstract: A high voltage electric cable having a longitudinal axis may include: a conductive core having a first cross sectional area; wherein the conductive core includes a solid, central conductor, and at least three solid, sector conductors stranded around the central conductor. The central conductor may have a second cross sectional area. A ratio of the second cross sectional area to the first cross sectional area may be of from 1/130 to 1/20.

    Inventors: Gianni Miramonti, Sergio Montagner
  • Patent number: 9595367
Abstract: A high voltage direct current cable includes at least one electrical conductor, at least one semiconducting layer, at least one stratified insulation made from windings of at least one paper-polypropylene laminate, the stratified insulation being impregnated with at least one electrically insulating fluid having a kinematic viscosity of at least 1,000 cSt at 60EC, wherein the laminate includes at least one paper layer having an air impermeability of at least 100,000 Gurley sec?1. Such a high air impermeability of the paper layer(s) remarkably reduces the swelling of the polypropylene layer(s) during impregnation with a high viscosity insulating fluid, thus preventing delamination, up to the end of the impregnation process for the whole stratified insulation.

Abstract: It is disclosed a high voltage electric cable having a longitudinal axis and comprising a conductive core having a first cross section area. The conductive core comprises a solid, central conductor. It further comprises at least three solid, sector conductors stranded around the central conductor. The central conductor has a second cross section area and the ratio between the second and first cross section areas is of from 1/130 to 1/20.

  • Patent number: 6395975
Abstract: Mass-impregnated electrical cable, particularly for carrying high voltage direct current, having an insulation in which, around the insulating layer impregnated with an insulating fluid, a containing layer is provided broadly includes at least one winding of a tape of a semiconducting elastomeric material, which exerts an effective action of containing the insulating fluid, while preventing formation of micro-cavities within the impregnated insulating layer. The material constituting the tape has high physical-chemical resistance to the degrading action of the components of the insulating fluid, both in the cold state and, in particular, at the operating temperature of the cable.
