  • Publication number: 20180024064
Abstract: The present disclosure offers a method of detecting the presence of fibrous tissue deposited to a biological specimen or tissue sample. Preferably, the method comprises the steps of illuminating the specimen using an electromagnetic radiation of an excitation wavelength that the specimen contains excitable materials or compound to result in auto-fluorescence emitting a first electromagnetic signal caused by two-photon excitation, the specimen contains non-linear materials to generate a second electromagnetic signal in the form of second harmonic wave pursuant to the illuminating step; recording the first and the second electromagnetic signals emitted from the specimen; co-localizing the recorded first and second electromagnetic signals to generate an image; and detecting presence of the fibrous tissue deposited to the specimen using the generated image. More preferably, the light source is a laser beam or the like operable to induce two-photon excitation in the given tissue sample.

  • Patent number: 8512678
Abstract: A method is disclosed involving detecting the expression of a fluorescent protein of interest in an animal, wherein the animal is a transgenic animal having in its genome nucleic acid encoding said fluorescent protein operably linked to promoter nucleic acid from a protein that is normally expressed in the nervous system of the animal, the method comprising the step of non-invasively detecting fluorescence from said protein when expressed in said animal.

Date of Patent: August 20, 2013
Assignee: Agency for Science, Technology and Research
    Inventors: Lang Zhuo, Gideon Ho
  • Patent number: 8428318
Abstract: A method is provided for averaging a sequence of image frames. A noise-reducing filter is applied to the image frames to generate filtered frames. A deconvolution filter is applied to the filtered frames to generate corresponding deconvolved frames. The filtered frames are transformed by an affine transformation to align them, generating aligned frames. The aligned frames are motion corrected by non-linear transformation based on intensity rank matching, generating a sequence of motion-corrected frames. The motion-corrected frames are averaged to generate a resultant frame.

  • Publication number: 20100146646
Abstract: There is presently provided methods of monitoring retinopathy in a live transgenic, non-human animal, the methods comprising providing a live transgenic non-human animal having a retinal pathology or a pre-disposition for a retinal pathology, wherein a nucleic acid molecule encoding a fluorescent protein under control of a GFAP promoter is integrated into the genome of the transgenic non-human animal; and detecting in vivo in the retinal glia of the transgenic non-human animal fluorescence levels of the fluorescent protein.
