Abstract: An electrophotographic printer includes a photosensitive member, a charger for accumulating electrostatic charges on the surface of the photosensitive member, an optical writing member for forming an electrostatic latent image on the surface of the photosensitive member, a developing device for making the latent image on the photosensitive member visible by means of a developer, a transfer device for transferring the visible image to a recorded material, a charge remover for removing any charge remaining on the photosensitive member, and a cleaner for removing any developer remaining on the photosensitive member. A developer moving passage is defined between the developing device and the cleaner for moving the developer from the cleaner to the developing device. The charger and the optical writing member are disposed between the developing device and the cleaner.

Abstract: An electrophotographic printer has first and second fixing rollers arranged near its discharge port for the recording paper. The discharge port has a stationary plate which is a part of the housing, and a movable plate which is movable toward and away from the stationary plate. One of the fixing rollers is mounted in a stationary position, and the other fixing roller is mounted on the movable plate. The movable plate is moved toward the stationary plate to form a port of normal width, and away from the stationary plate to open the port to allow jammed papers to be easily removed from inside the printer.

Abstract: This invention provides an electrophotographic apparatus of the type wherein an upper unit open-/close-able with respect to a lower unit is provided with a sensitizing drum and a de-electrifying light source for eliminating residual potential on the sensitizing drum, which is characterized in that the de-electrifying light source is a membrane light emitting element, and this membrane light emitting element is movable so as to make open and closed the lower part of the sensitizing drum.

Abstract: Disclosed is a thermal head and a method of manufacturing the same, in which a heating portion provided with at least a heating resistor film, a conductor film and a protection film and formed on a substrate having a center-raised stripe and made of an electrically insulating material having anisotropy or selectivity with respect to etching is integrated with a lead wire portion separate from the heating portion and having lead wires formed on an electrically insulating substrate by connecting conductors of the heating portion with respective and corresponding ones of the lead wires of the lead wire portion.
