The hydraulic exciter device includes a plurality of hydraulic exciters and is configured to drive the hydraulic exciters with excitation displacements of mutually substantially the same amplitude and frequency and in phase with one another. An improved hydraulic exciter for use in the improved compacting device, and the improved compacting device with a single improved exciter of this type are also described.
