Patent number: 10540374Abstract: Social relationships are detected between a plurality of users. A set of user activity logs is input, where these logs originate from one or more network services and cover a prescribed period of time. Each of the logs originates from a particular one of the services and includes a structured data stream that records each interaction that each of one or more of the users has with the particular one of the services. This structured data stream includes a timestamp specifying when this interaction occurred, and a public network identifier specifying a network address from which this interaction occurred. The set of user activity logs is then analyzed to detect a prescribed kind of social relationship between the users. A data structure is then generated that identifies the users between whom the prescribed kind of social relationship is detected, and the data structure is output.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2016Date of Patent: January 21, 2020Assignee: MICROSOFT TECHNOLOGY LICENSING, LLCInventors: Shiv Nandan Singh, Jose D. Patent number: 10111036Abstract: Architecture that generates a notification when a user arrives at a location, but without exposing identity of the location. Moreover, the notification can be generated and transmitted at all times. The architecture comprises a reminder service that manages all reminder requests and approvals, a notification engine that notifies a requesting user when target user arrived at a specific location or one of a general category of location, and a user interface that allows the user to set reminders that are displayed when the target user arrives at the point of interest and approves other user reminder requests. The architecture can be run on a mobile phone, and manages user requests and user approvals for location based notifications, alerts a requesting user the target user arrived at one of previously-specified points of interest. Similarly, a general category of destination can be specified, rather than a specific point of interest.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 2016Date of Patent: October 23, 2018Assignee: Microsoft Licencing Corporation, LLCInventors: Adi Ben-Dayan, Gilad Oren

Publication number: 20180084503Abstract: Architecture that facilitates power conservation in mobile devices such as cell phones using prediction. The architecture is an algorithmic-based solution that transforms infrequently-captured geolocation data of an entity into a continuous probable location approximation. Given the location history and additional data about the recent location of the mobile device, the current location of the device can be estimated with some probability. Additionally, given the location history and additional data about the recent location of the device, the probability of the device actually being at a given point on a map is computed.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 30, 2017Publication date: March 22, 2018Inventors: FADI HAIK, ADI BEN-DAYAN, OR KAPLAN, GILAD OREN, ERAN YARIV

Publication number: 20140018094Abstract: Architecture that creates a multi-dimensional spatial model of a mobile device based on data obtained from sensors, such as associated with the mobile device, for example. The spatial model defines the location of the mobile device in space, as well as the device orientation (e.g., heading, and tilt). The spatial model is used to determine a target location (or point) in space at which the mobile device is aiming. The spatial model can be generated based on sensing subsystems that include, but are not limited to, geolocation subsystem (e.g., GPS-global positioning system), a directional (or heading) sensor such as a compass, and gyroscope information to calculate the device tilt relative to the target location.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 13, 2012Publication date: January 16, 2014Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Gilad Oren, Limor Lahiani, Fadi Haik

When a contact is marked as private, or when a device operates in a private mode, one or more privacy-related actions with respect to an incoming or outgoing communication are performed. Privacy-related actions include logging private telephone call information to a private, protected log, storing private message content to a private protected store, or not saving any such information or content. Another privacy-related action comprises not allowing a visible or audible notification to occur when a private communication is received.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 9, 2010Publication date: May 10, 2012Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventor: Gilad Oren
