  • Patent number: 10213952
Abstract: In a method, an article of unitary construction is blow molded and integrally provided with a clip for securement to another item. The clip has an arm initially blow molded into an open elevated configuration. The arm is pivotable into closed and open configurations. When closed, the arm is in selectively releasable and secure engagement with a catch on the article. The arm is biased towards the catch. When open, the arm is depressed relative to and biased towards the closed configuration. The open configuration is traversed to secure the article to the item. In the open elevated configuration, the arm is elevated relative to the closed configuration. The arm is preferably a carabiner-type arm. The article is preferably formed of a composition of matter including polyethylene and plastic additives to provide the arm with sufficient pre-built tension to stay in the aforesaid selectively releasable and secure engagement.

  • Patent number: 10182796
Abstract: Devices, and methods of use thereof, are provided for the collection of a biological sample during insertion into a human orifice. The device may include a body piece, an insertion piece extending from one end of the body piece, and a handle connected to the other end of the body piece. Upon rotation of the handle, a shaft housed within the body piece, with a collection end at a distal portion thereof, is extended from a retracted position to an extended position, such that the collection end exits an opening within the insertion piece. The angle of the body piece relative to the insertion piece may be configured for self-sampling of a vaginal sample in a seated position. The collection end may be a swab with a plurality of pinwheeling fins having leading edge oriented to collect the biological sample when the shaft is rotated in a given direction.

  • Publication number: 20170164736
Abstract: Closed, a tray is received within a housing aperture. The tray is preferably mounted to the housing by way of a sliding carriage assembly. Levers are mounted to the tray and pivotable between latching and releasing configurations. Latched, the levers prevent removal of the tray from (the carriage and) the housing. When the tray is opened and the levers are in the releasing configuration, the tray is selectively removable from (the carriage and) the housing. On selective re-engagement with (the carriage and) the housing and movement to the closed configuration, lever surfaces are urged by aligning surfaces on (the carriage or) the housing to automatically pivot the levers towards the latching configuration.
