  • Publication number: 20040138436
Abstract: The present invention relates to colorant of the general formula, wherein A, B and B′, m and m′ and n and n′ are as defined in the description. The colorants can be used for the pigmenting of porous materials and in injekt printing and, in the case of pigmenting, are converted to the insoluble pigment form. In the pigmenting of porous materials, for example in the pigmenting of wood or anodised aluminium in the pores, the colorants yield very good penetration and fastness to light and, in injekt printing, yield very good water-resistance.

  • Patent number: 6645257
Abstract: A process for pigmenting wood, which comprises treating wood in succession: a) with a solution comprising from 0.01 to 80% by weight, based on the solution, of a compound of the formula A(B)x  (I), in which x is an integer from 1 to 8, A is the radical of a chromophore of the quinacridone, anthraquinone, perylene, indigo, quinophthalone, indanthrone, isoindolinone, isoindoline, dioxazine, azo, phthalocyanine or diketopyrrolopyrrole series which is attached to x groups B via one or more heteroatoms, these heteroatoms being selected from the group consisting of N, O and S and forming part of the radical A, B is hydrogen or a group of the formula  at least one group B not being hydrogen and, if x is a number from 2 to 8, the groups B being identical or different, and L is any desired group suitable for solubilization; and from 0.05 to 5% by weight, based on the solution, of a salt of the formula Kat+.An−  (II), Kat+.

  • Patent number: 6495250
Abstract: The present invention relates to a colored, preferably natural porous material comprising in its pores an effectively coloring amount of an organic pigment which is obtained by fragmenting a meltable or solvent-soluble pigment precursor in the presence of a thermally activated acid precursor, and to a low to medium temperature process for its preparation.

  • Patent number: 6365720
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for preparing a compound of the formula A(D)x(E)y (I) by reaction of a compound of the formula A(H)x(H)y with a pyrocarbonic acid diester of the formula wherein x and y are each independently of the other an integer from 0 to 6, but x and y are not simultaneously the number 0, A is the radical of a chromophore of the quinacridone, anthraquinone, perylene, indigo, quinophthalone, indanthrone, isoindolinone, isoindoline, dioxazine, azo, phthalocyanine or diketopyrrolopyrrole series, which radical is bonded via one or more nitrogen atoms to x groups D and via one or more oxygen atoms to y groups E, the nitrogen atoms and oxygen atoms forming part of the radical A, each group D or E independently of any other(s) is hydrogen or a group of the formula wherein at least one group D or E is not hydrogen, and L is any desired group suitable solubilization, in the presence of a base as catalyst, in which method the reaction takes place in an aroma
