    Abstract: This disclosure describes a digital-content-transition system that dynamically determines a content-transition type for a visual media transition and converts a display of a digital-content-display device from one visual media item to another visual media item according to the content-transition type. For example, the digital-content-transition system can intelligently determine a type and time of transition from multiple content-transition types and content-transition times for transitioning between visual media items or visual media collections displayed at a digital-content-display device. By intelligently determining a content-transition type and a corresponding content-transition time based on metadata of the visual media items, the digital-content-transition system can transition a display of the digital-content-display device between visual media items or visual media collections according to the content-transition type and content-transition time.
