  • Publication number: 20060127572
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for making a granular road surfacing material, which consists: in using at least two different granular fractions, a coarse granular fraction consisting of large and/or medium aggregates and fine granular fraction consisting of fine aggregates; coating the aggregates of the coarse granular fraction with an organic binder, so as to form an organic coarse phase; mixing the aggregates of the fine granular fraction with a mineral binder and with an amount of input water, so as to form a mineral fine phase; mixing the organic coarse phase and the mineral fine phase to obtain a material ready to be spread or stored. The organic binder is advantageously a soft bitumen emulsion, in which case the coating of the coarse granular fraction is carried out by cold process and the final mixing of the two phases is carried out preferably after break-up of the emulsion.

  • Patent number: 6168424
Abstract: An installation for quick thermal treatment of suspended powder substances, in particular for flash calcining of mineral substances, comprises modules advantageously arranged in mobile units including elements for supplying powder substances, a combustion chamber wherein the substances are introduced suspended in a hot air flux and a cooling assembly where the calcined substances are recuperated to pre-heat the combustion air. The substances are pneumatically transported in the heated air downstream of the supplying elements, via a pre-heating device up to the combustion chamber.

  • Patent number: 5373067
Abstract: The invention concerns a process for the treatment of cross-linked polymeric materials based on E.V.A. (ethylene vinyl acetate) with a view to obtaining polymeric fragments having a lower molecular mass. The process consists of incorporating the polymeric materials, after reduction to a particulate form, in a solvent, notably aromatic and/or halogenated, suitable for diffusing into the interior of the polymeric network and for swelling the latter, and subjecting the reaction medium to a stream of ozone. This process ensures a controlled cleavage of the cross-linked molecules without total destruction of the polymer or disruption of the functional groups. The products obtained may notably be used as modifying agents for hydrocarbon binders or aggregates treated with a hydraulic binder or again as coating binders for granulates.
