Abstract: A support structure for a rostrum includes a first A-frame; and at least a second A-frame, nestable and retractable into the first A-frame. The support structure may have an open central area and the second A-frame may be substantially the same as, but smaller than, the open central area of the first A-frame. At least one support means is connected to each A-frame for supporting a load, wherein the support is connected to an upper portion of one A-frame. The support extends from the upper portion of the one A-frame and is co-operable with an upper portion of another A-frame. The support structure may be telescopic and configured to be expandable and retractable between a retracted, stored position, and an extended, in use position.

The post includes an end portion having an angled face and a wedge, having a complementary angled face arranged against the angled face of the end portion. The wedge is configured to be slidably movable at the end portion to adjust a second cross-sectional area, defined by the wedge and the end portion. The angled face of the wedge is slidably movable relative to the angled face of the end portion to increase the second cross-sectional area relative to the first cross-sectional area to tightly secure the end portion (14) within an aperture. The post may further comprise a mechanism connected to the wedge for slidably moving the angled face of the wedge relative to the angled face of the end portion to increase the second cross-sectional area relative to the first cross-sectional area to tightly secure the end portion within an aperture.

Abstract: In a first aspect, a rostrum support structure for a rostrum comprises a pair of frame units which are inclined towards one another, extending from floor contacting portions to rostrum support points, truss members being provided extending downwardly and inwardly from the first frame members towards a linking member or towards the other frame member, to provide a triangulated structure. In a second aspect, a rostrum structure comprises a first rostrum unit and a second rostrum unit, a latch being provided for fixing the second rostrum unit with respect to the first rostrum unit in an extended position, the latch comprising a movable member mounted on one of the first and second rostrum units and a latch surface mounted on the other of the first and second rostrum units, the movable member being movable into and out of engagement with the latch surface, preferably by rotation, in a direction parallel to the planes of the decks and substantially normal to the retraction direction.
