Abstract: A generator system for providing power to communications equipment. The generator comprises an engine, an alternator, a rectifier, and a cable connected between the rectifier and the communications equipment. The engine converts fuel energy into rotation of an output shaft. The alternator is operatively connected to the output shaft to convert the rotation of the output shaft into a raw alternating current power signal. The rectifier generates a direct current power signal based on the raw power signal. The generator preferably comprises a controller for controlling the engine based on the load requirements of the communications equipment. A select switch may be provided to cause the controller to control the rectifier to generate the direct current power signal at first and second predetermined levels.
