  • Patent number: 8248062
Abstract: A rotational direction detector is specified which is provided for mounting to a circumferential segment of a wheel having at least one sensor, wherein a change in the output signal of the sensor occurs when the circumferential segment enters and/or leaves the wheel contact area. Furthermore a method is specified for determining the direction of rotation of a wheel, wherein the signal change is determined and a rotational direction signal is derived therefrom.

  • Patent number: 8032272
Abstract: A method of determining the rotary, rotationally immobile or mobile, state of a vehicle wheel, according to which the signal delivered by an active motion sensor fitted to the wheel is analyzed instantly according to a procedure consists, firstly, at time t1, in connecting the motion sensor to an analog circuit including at least one capacitor and interposed between the motion sensor and a first input of an electronic comparison element, so as to store in the capacitor reference value V1 representing the value of the signal at t1. Thereafter, the motion sensor is connected to a second input of the comparison element, to compare V1 with a value V2 representing the value of the signal at time t2, and to deliver a diagnostic signal representing either a rotationally immobile state of the wheel when V1=V2, or a rotationally mobile state of the wheel when V1?V2.

  • Patent number: 7750623
Abstract: Method and device for locating the right or left position of a wheel of a vehicle. The wheel has a magnetic measuring component including a core of ferromagnetic material on which are arranged, crosswise, two windings presenting maximum sensitivity axes extending in a plane intersecting the rotational axis of the wheel, and offset from each other, in this intersecting plane, by an angle ?, and on movements of the vehicle, a measurement is taken of a signal generated by the variation of a magnetic field at the terminals of each of the windings so as to deliver two periodic signals phase-shifted from each other by (+ or ?) ?, the direction of rotation of the wheel is determined from this phase difference and, from this direction of rotation and from the direction of movement of the vehicle, the location of the right or left position of the wheel is deduced.

  • Patent number: 7432851
Abstract: A method and a device for determining the state of travel, whether stationary or moving along, of a vehicle. The method includes equipping at least one wheel (2) with a magnetic sensor (4) having an axis of maximum sensitivity, measuring a signal at the terminals of the magnetic sensor (4) so as to deliver a signal representative of the variations in the values of the magnetic field as detected by the magnetic sensor, and in providing either information that the vehicle is stationary if there are no variations in the signal delivered, or information that the vehicle is moving along when there is a cyclic variation in the signal.

  • Publication number: 20080197837
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for locating the right or left position of a wheel (2) of a vehicle (3). According to the invention, the wheel (2) is equipped with a magnetic measuring component (4) comprising a core made of ferromagnetic material on which are arranged, crosswise, two windings designed to present maximum sensitivity axes extending in a plane intersecting the axis of rotation of said wheel, and offset from each other, in this intersecting plane, by a predetermined angle ?, and on movements of the vehicle, a measurement is taken of a signal generated by the variation of a magnetic field at the terminals of each of the windings so as to deliver two periodic signals phase-shifted from each other by (+or ?) ?, the direction of rotation of the wheel (2) is determined from this phase difference and, from this direction of rotation and from the direction of movement of the vehicle (3), the location of the right or left position of the wheel (2) is deduced.

  • Patent number: 7392119
Abstract: A method and device for locating the position, on the right or on the left, of a vehicle wheel. The wheel is equipped with two magnetic sensors having axes of maximum sensitivity lying in a plane that is secant to the axis of rotation of the wheel and which are offset from one another in this secant plane by a predetermined angle ?. As the vehicle moves in a given travel direction, a signal generated by the variation in a magnetic field is measured at the terminals of each of the magnetic sensors to deliver two periodic signals phase-shifted from one another by an angular value equal to (+ or ?) ?, this phase shift is used to determine the direction of wheel rotation, and from such direction and the travel direction, the location, on the right or on the left, of the wheel is deduced.
