  • Patent number: 7464505
Abstract: A staircase finishing arrangement includes a tread portion presenting a finishing surface layer, a nosing extending across substantially the whole length of the tread portion with a supporting layer affixed to the underside of the surface layer and mortised into the nosing, in the front and/or free side edges of the tread. Mechanical securement members are provided for interengagement as between the nosing and the subjacent riser, and are pivotally mounted such that upon interengagement limited adjustment may be achieved to secure the arrangement in proper transverse locational relationship with the stair.

  • Patent number: 6397529
Abstract: The adjustable modular staircase includes two stringers for rigid attachment to a building structure in parallel, opposed relationship to each other, a plurality of axially parallel pins protrude out of each of the stringers and are spaced equidistant apart there along, the pins in one stringer are axially aligned with the pins in the other stringer when installed in the building structure, and a plurality of step modules, each including a tread and at least one end wall. The end wall has a top edge for supporting one end of the tread, a bottom edge inclined with respect to the top edge, and a notch in the bottom edge for releasably pivotally engaging one of the pins, whereby the step module can pivot around the pin to allow for horizontal leveling of each of the treads so as to form a rough staircase used for the early stages of the building process. Each step module preferably includes a riser having an end supported by a front edge of the end wall.

  • Patent number: 6336484
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method that is timesaving, more economical and facilitates the handling and processing of short solid wood planks. Tongue-and-groove joints are machined on the short sides of the short green planks enabling their releasable tight assembly in rows for the seasoning process in the kiln dryer. This temporary attachment between adjacent planks prevents exposition of the short sides to the drying air thus avoiding the usual end grain checking on the latter during kiln drying, and eliminates the need of performing any subsequent machining and trimming steps after the expensive kiln drying step. This process then also improves the saving opportunities by increasing the volume of wood drying capacity and by increasing the production of reusable green wood shavings as opposed to unusable wood shavings following the kiln drying operation.

  • Patent number: 5081345
Abstract: A system is disclosed for locating a moving object, comprising a transmitter transmitting light flashes, connected to the moving object and a charge transfer and frame transfer photosensitive detector disposed in a fixed station and connected by electronic means, the transmitter and the detector being driven by individual, initially synchronized time bases. From time to time, but preferably periodically, the duration of an integration time of said detector is reduced to a value at most equal to the duration of the light flashes, so that said corresponding light flash occurs at least partially during the preceding transfer time or following said reduced integration time and said electronic means calculate the relative time drift between said time bases from the light trace formed by said flash on said matrix detector and use this calculated drift for re-setting the time base of the detector with respect to that of the transmitter.

  • Patent number: 4768097
Abstract: This invention relates to an electro-optical pickup of the type incorporating a charge coupled device. The invention has a sequencer that controls the successive acquisition by the photosensitive zone of a plurality n of images. The sequencer transfers into the intermediate memory zone, after formation of each of the images, a part of this image constituted by a number of lines m less than or at the most equal to the ratio M/n between the number M of lines of the intermediate memory zone and the number n of the images. The sequencer accumulates the partial images in the intermediate memory zone. The sequencer controls, via the readout register, the complete transfer of the partial images from the intermediate memory zone into the outside memory means, as well as the distribution of the partial images in the outside memory means.

  • Patent number: 4760451
Abstract: This invention relates to an electro-optical sensor of the CCD type, wherein said optical system is multiple and is capable of forming on said photosensitive zone a plurality of juxtaposed images belonging to different and/or superposed optical fields, and the sequencer controls the simultaneous acquisition by the photosensitive zone of said plurality of images; accumulates said images in said intermediate memory zone, and, via the reading register, controls the transfer of said images from said intermediate memory zone into said outside memory means, as well as the distribution of said images in said outside memory means.

  • Patent number: 4710028
Abstract: This invention relates to a system for locating a body in motion with respect to an axis, comprising an optical detector disposed in fixed manner and cooperating with an optical emitter connected to said body in motion, system wherein said optical detector comprises a fixed matrix of controllable photosensitive elements; said optical emitter produces flash signals; and synchronization means are provided for said electronic control means to deliver control pulses synchronized with said flash signals and triggering off the taking of an image. The invention is more particularly applicable to the location and guiding of missiles.
