  • Patent number: 5374053
Abstract: A device for changing the transport position of products such as sheet material signature fed to further processing units includes movable upper transport (4) and movable lower transport (7) in a transport plane (29). Products (22) are guided by the upper and lower transport (4, 7) in the transport plane (29). An alignment element (14, 15) attached on a rotary body (8) cyclically diverts the upper transport. Simultaneously, the position of the products (22) on said lower transport (7) is corrected by engagement with an abutment surface (19) on the alignment element (14, 15).

  • Patent number: 5325774
Abstract: A system is provided for assisting operators of a printing press in webbing ribbons of a web material exiting a printing unit of the printing press through paths of rolls which direct the ribbons into preselected formers of a folder. A remote display device is provided on each roll which is utilized in more than one path. The remote display devices operate under the control of a web management system and display information which indicates the identity of its respective roll, the direction in which the ribbon must be wrapped around its respective roll, and the identity of the next roll to be wrapped. Ribbon path information for a plurality of jobs is stored by the web management system allowing for rapid ribbon path changes between jobs without limiting the number of permissible ribbon path layouts.

  • Patent number: 5322270
Abstract: A folder delivery apparatus for single or multiple-stream production includes several delivery systems which are operable in parallel and can be driven independently of one another. During operation of the folder as well as during machine standstill, the delivery systems can be simultaneously shifted automatically or manually through adjustment units, in such a way that while adjustment takes place, the distance between the delivery systems can be set as desired within a minimal and a maximal setting position.

  • Patent number: 5249791
Abstract: In a fan delivery unit of a folder having a plurality of fan discs arranged next to one another on a motor shaft, the fan discs being formed with a plurality of fan blades having fan pockets therebetween, there is provided a device for braking printed products. The braking device includes driven brake shaft disposed parallel to the motor shaft, a plurality of brake rollers corresponding in number to the number of fan discs being mounted on the brake shaft, and a device for driving the brake shaft via the motor shaft selectively in one of two rotational directions. The brake rollers and leading edges of the fan blades are cooperative for delaying travel of a printed product introduced into the respective fan pockets.

  • Patent number: 5233919
Abstract: In an angle bar turning a web having an exterior pipe formed with outlet openings, an air regulating device includes a zone tube disposed within and radially spaced from the exterior pipe so as to define an annular space therebetween, structure for dividing the annular space into a plurality of mutually isolated zones in longitudinal direction of the exterior pipe, the zone tube having at least one air outlet opening formed therein in each of the zones for coordination with the outlet openings formed in the exterior pipe, and an air controller tube disposed within the zone tube and being formed in circumferential direction thereof with at least two zonal combinations of outlet openings differing from one another, the air controller tube being turnable about the longitudinal axis thereof within the zone tube.

  • Patent number: 5080338
Abstract: A folding apparatus for a rotary printing machine with two folding formers arranged one behind the other, nip rollers and cutting cylinders for two paper webs longitudinally folding by the folding formers, as well as deflectors, fans and deliveries for streams of folded products formed of the folded paper webs cut by the cutting cylinders, comprising a pair of first frame members carrying the nip rollers and the cutting cylinders therebetween, a second frame member at least partly disposed between the pair of first frames and intermediate the two product streams, idler means, diverter rollers and delivery devices for the folded products being mounted in cantilevered fashion on both sides of the second frame member.
