  • Patent number: 8277789
Abstract: The invention provides a method for inhibiting color fading in color-treated keratinous fibers, which method includes treating the keratinous fibers with a color-fade inhibiting-effective effective amount of a monoalkyl quaternary ammonium salt. The invention also provides a method for enhancing the intensity of color in color-treated keratinous fibers, which method includes treating the keratinous fibers with a color intensity enhancing effective amount of an alkyl a quaternary ammonium salt. Additionally provided are products for inhibiting the fading of color and increasing the intensity of color in color-treated keratinous fibers.

    Assignee: Conopco, Inc.
Inventors: Gilles Verboom, Kari Bauer, Perry Romanowski
  • Patent number: 8277788
Abstract: Disclosed is a quick dispersing hair conditioning composition comprising (a) an isostearamidopropyl ethyldimethylammonium salt or a dicocodimethylammonium salt; (b) one or more fatty alcohols; (c) dimethicone; and (d) water. The hair conditioning composition of the invention has one or more advantageous properties. For example, an embodiment of the invention has a dispersion rate such that when 1.5 mL of the composition is dispersed into 400 mL of water at about 35° C. to about 40° C., the dispersion has a transmittance at 420 nm that is less than about 70% of the water at the same temperature in less than about 120 seconds.

  • Publication number: 20100111886
Abstract: Provided is a hair-styling composition, which preferably includes polyvinylpyrrolidone, at least one additional film former, at least one thickener and water, wherein the composition is substantially free of carbomer, and when applied to human hair, exhibits at least about 80% curl retention after about 2 hours under conditions of about 85% relative humidity and about 75° F. Also provided is a method of styling keratinous fibers with the composition of the present invention and a method of controlling the frizz condition of keratinous fibers with the composition.

  • Publication number: 20080019939
Abstract: Provided is a conditioning formulation, which preferably includes one or more bis-alkoxy-terminated glycol-functionalized aminosilicones, one or more non-functionalized aminosilicones, one or more fatty alcohols, one or more alkyl quaternary ammonium salts, and water. Also provided is a method of conditioning keratinous fibers (e.g., hair), which includes applying to the keratinous fibers an effective amount of the formulation of the present invention and, optionally, removing (e.g., rinsing) at least a portion of the formulation therefrom.
