Abstract: The invention is related to modulation of Smad3 expression to prevent fibrosis and improve wound healing. Aspects of the invention, for example, include approaches to improve wound healing and/or reduce or prevent fibrosis by inhibiting Smad3. Embodiments described herein also include approaches to identify componds that modulate Smad3 expression and the preparation of pharmaceuticals comprising said compounds.
