  • Patent number: 6973732
Abstract: A magnetic compass includes a base having a receiving chamber for receiving a compass body, a battery chamber for receiving a battery set, an illuminant chamber for receiving an illuminant, and a locating chamber for receiving an electrically conductive member. The illuminant has a first terminal suspended above the battery set. A push button is supported on the first terminal of the illuminant for pressing by the user to force the first terminal of the illuminant downwards into contact with a first terminal of the battery set. The conductive member has a base frame mounted in the locating chamber, and a contact portion extended from the base frame and inserted into the battery chamber and pressed on a second terminal of the battery set. A second terminal of the illuminant is electrically connected to the base frame of the conductive member.

  • Patent number: 6582097
Abstract: A multi-function handheld device includes a casing unit, a torch unit, a mirror piece, a magnifying lens piece, a thermometer, and a compass. The casing unit includes lower and upper casing members. Rear casing parts of the casing members cooperatively confine an air inlet. The rear casing part of the lower casing member is further formed with an air outlet to permit generation of a whistling sound output. Front casing parts of the casing members are spaced apart so as to define a receiving slit for mounting the mirror and lens pieces pivotally therein. The casing unit further has receiving cavities for mounting the thermometer and the compass respectively therein. The torch unit is mounted in torch receiving chamber of the front casing part of the upper casing member, and includes a press member that is operable to make electrical connection between a lamp member and a battery set.

  • Patent number: 6446342
Abstract: A multi-function cutter includes an elongated casing, which has a rear end with an air inlet, and an intermediate portion with an air chamber and an air outlet. Air can be blown into the inlet so as to flow into and exit from the outlet via the chamber, thereby permitting generation of a whistling sound output. An indication lamp is disposed fixedly within a lamp opening in the front end of the casing. A lamp-switching member is movable within a first slide slot in the casing between an ON-position, where the lamp is turned on, and an OFF-position, where the lamp is turned off. A pusher is movable within a second slide slot in the casing so as to move a blade within the casing between an extended position and a retracted position.

  • Patent number: 6145209
Abstract: An illuminating device includes a mounting plate adapted to be mounted on a bottom of a magnetic compass in a first direction. The mounting plate has a central axial hole passing therethrough in a second direction transverse to the first direction and defining a central axis, and a battery receiving chamber for receiving a battery. A lighting member is disposed on the mounting plate, and has a first lead electrically connected to a first pole of the battery. First and second conductive members are connected respectively to a second lead of the lighting member and a second pole of the battery, extend above the central axial hole, and are spaced apart from each other along the central axis. A cover plate is disposed on the mounting plate for closing the chamber, and is rotatable relative to the mounting plate about the central axis between locked and unlocked positions.
