  • Patent number: 4165798
Abstract: A muffler comprises a plurality of stackable stages 1, 2 and 3. Each stage is comprised of a phase opposition circuit. In each phase opposition circuit exhaust gases are divided into two paths towards an outlet where they are recombined. The difference in length between the two paths equals half a wavelength of a selected frequency.

  • Patent number: 4152810
Abstract: A lockable hinge for hingedly connecting structural members of a hinged assembly such as a folding ladder comprises two hinge parts which are pivotable with respect to a common hinge axis, a first hinge part being formed with a cylindrical protruding portion journalling in a cylindrical bore formed in the second hinge part. A locking member slidingly mounted on the first hinge part is controlled by a resiliently urged ear-shaped pivoting link adapted for selective stop-engagement with an actuating lever pivotingly mounted on said first hinge part.

  • Patent number: 4148459
Abstract: A quick disconnect coupling of the self-locking type which enables easier connection and prevents stresses to be developed into an unsupported rigid or flexible hose connected to the male or the female portion of the coupling. The male portion of this coupling includes a stopper which cooperates with a mating end of a sliding collar used to retain locking balls into the female portion during the introduction of the male portion into the female portion, said stopper and said mating end or said locking collar allowing, once the male portion is fully engaged into the female portion, the locking collar to return to its initial position.

  • Patent number: 4055231
Abstract: The application discloses a new silencer for internal combustion engines. This silencer comprises an internal resilient tube capable to vibrate longitudinally and permeable to the exhaust gas and an external sheath. An end piece closes the internal tube. Spacers are secured to the internal tube and another end piece provided with apertures is secured to the end of the external sheath. The exhaust gases exit from the internal tube through the space comprised between the spacers and the external sheath towards said apertures in the other end piece.
