    Abstract: Residual acrylonitrile dissolved in acrylonitrile polymers and/or water in which the acrylonitrile polymers are polymerized or processed or from acrylonitrile processes is reduced to non-detectable amounts by adding to the polymer-water or acrylonitrile mixture at least a stoichiometric amount of an amine which reacts with and reduces the measurable free acrylonitrile content of such mixtures to non-detectable amounts.
