  • Patent number: 6360733
Abstract: A self-adapting method of controlling the mixture ratio of an injection system, of an internal combustion engine. In each operating state of the engine and for each injector, the method determines a nominal quantity of fuel to be injected as a function of a number of engine parameters and operating conditions, an operating parameter as a function of a signal representing exhaust gas composition and of a proportional-integral regulating function and hot and cold correction coefficients indicating a correction to be made to the nominal quantity of fuel to take into account the effect on injection of different engines and different injection systems during hot and cold engine operation.

  • Patent number: 6026795
Abstract: Control device in which a linear oxygen sensor arranged on a gas exhaust pipe of an internal-combustion engine upstream of a catalytic converter generates a signal supplied to a conversion circuit generating at its output a measured parameter representing the air/fuel ratio of the mixture supplied to the engine. The measured parameter is compared with a target parameter so as to calculate an error parameter which is used, according to an operating method, to generate, where necessary, a bistable dummy signal variable between a positive saturation value and a negative saturation value so as to model the output of an oxygen sensor of the ON/OFF type. The dummy signal is also processed so as to calculate a correction parameter designed to be used for correction of a theoretical value of a calculated quantity of fuel, obtaining a corrected quantity of fuel for an injection system of the engine.

  • Patent number: 5755208
Abstract: A non-return fuel supply system for an internal combustion engine operating with at least one cylinder and comprising: at least one intake manifold connected to the cylinder, at least one injector for injecting fuel into the intake manifold, a fuel tank, a pump substantially positioned in the tank in order to deliver fuel to the injector, and a control station comprising a first calculating unit adapted, for each injector, to calculate the value of the average pressure difference between the ends of the injector during each injection phase, and a second calculating unit connected to the first calculating unit and adapted, for each injector, to calculate the average value of the flow rate of the injector during each injection phase on the basis of the value of the average pressure difference between the ends of the injector during the injection phase.

  • Patent number: 5427081
Abstract: The present invention involves an air regulation system for an internal combustion engine. The system comprises an air intake manifold, in turn presenting a main conduit with a throttle valve, and a bypass conduit with a regulating valve. An inlet and outlet are defined along the main conduit respectively upstream and downstream from the throttle valve. The system includes a device for controlling the regulating valve and sensors for detecting the speed and air intake of the engine. A processor determines the regulating valve control signal on the basis of engine speed. The processor then calculates the theoretical position of the regulating valve on the basis of engine speed and load. The processor calculates the estimated post-control position of the regulating valve on the basis of the readings of the sensors and compares the theoretical and estimated positions to generate an error signal. Finally, the processor varies the regulating valve control signal on the basis of the error signal.
