    Abstract: An endosseal implant for the support of an artificial tooth consists of a U-shaped surgical metal wire having a flattened and sharpened bight portion adapted to be hammered into the spongy bone structure forming the alveolar crest. The wire arms of the implant protruding into the oral cavity are shortened, if necessary, and form into occlusion with the opposing teeth and an artificial tooth or teeth are attached to the arms by conventional techniques.
