  • Publication number: 20130123984
Abstract: Radiation lenses including channels consisting of capillaries or fibres, polycapillaries or multilayer planar properly coupled, a central channel filled with refracting material for neutrons and an extraction channel. The channels can be bent with a graded curvature and filled with material with an increasing refracting index, such an increasing refracting index depending on the position of the channel respect the central channel. The lenses can be subdivided into sectors in which the channels have a different curvature and are filled with materials with a different refracting index to increase the combined effect of the total reflection and the refraction. The sectors can be configured in a cubic, cone or prism shape.

  • Patent number: 7483512
Abstract: A diffractometer, having variable center and suitable for performing analysis on hidden or hardly accessible bodies or specimens is described. Said variable center diffractometer is equipped with an analytical unit that comprises: a circle arc structure, called Euler cradle; a radiation beam source and a detector of the said radiation beam; devices for the pointing of the analytical unit; devices for the movements of said analytical unit in the space; devices for rotation of said source and detector along the Euler cradle; characterized by the fact that it comprises also: devices able to rotate said source and detector with respect to an orthogonal axis to the plane containing the Euler cradle; collimators or deflectors firmly placed on the said radiation source and detector.

  • Patent number: 7260178
Abstract: Diffractometer and method for diffraction analysis making use of two Euler cradles, a primary and a secondary Euler cradle. The primary Euler cradle supports a source of a radiation beam, having a collimation axis, and a radiation beam detector, having a reception axis, said collimation and reception axis, conveying in a centre of the diffractometer which is fixed with respect to the primary Euler cradle. The source and detector are adapted to move along the primary Euler cradle. The secondary Euler cradle supports the primary Euler cradle and is arranged to rotate the latter.

  • Patent number: 4291121
Abstract: A composition, test device, method of making a test device and process for bilirubin-resistant determination of an analyte selected from uric acid or cholesterol in a fluid sample are disclosed. More particularly, the composition is of the type comprising means responsive to the presence of the particular analyte to be determined in the sample, a phenol and 4-aminophenazone to which resistance to interference by bilirubin is imparted by inclusion therein of reagent means comprising a ferrocyanide ion. The uric acid or cholesterol responsive means is preferably of the type which determines peroxides formed from enzymatic conversion of the analyte. The composition can optionally be incorporated with a carrier to provide a test device.

  • Patent number: 4247297
Abstract: Test means, such as a composition or device, method of making a test device and process for determination of at least one oxidizing substance, such as a peroxide, are disclosed. More particularly, the contemplated test means comprises a hydrazone and 8-amino-1-napthol-5,7-disulfonic acid (Chicago acid). Further provided is a test system for the determination of a constituent in a sample, having means responsive to the presence of said constituent in said sample to produce at least one oxidizing substance and a composition for determining said at least one oxidizing substance, wherein said composition comprises a hydrazone and 8-amino-1-napthol-5,7-disulfonic acid (Chicago acid). The test system is preferably of the type which determines peroxides formed from enzymatic conversion of constituents in biological fluids. When in the form of compositions the test means can optionally be incorporated with a carrier, such as a tablet or matrix, to provide a test device.

  • Patent number: 3979893
Abstract: For working a web of woolen type yarns leaving a finisher card, a condenser head splits the web into parallel bands. The bands are delivered to pairs of rubbing rolls which reciprocate relative to one another to convert the bands to slubbings having false torsion. The slubbings are conveyed to spinning frames.
