  • Patent number: 4358969
Abstract: A turbine-gear train system for driving an axial flow water pump which comprises a turbine assembly and a gear train assembly. Air at high pressure does work on the impulse turbine wheel. The torque so generated is transmitted to the sun gear assembly of a two-stage planetary reduction gear. The output torque is taken in the same direction of rotation as the input. The system is a low-noise, high-power, lightweight compact system and permits a reduction in the output power-to-weight ratio by a factor of five or more.

  • Patent number: 4312247
Abstract: A vibration reducing mount system for supporting a rotary machine symmetrically about its center of rotation. The mount system comprises an annular ring bonded between two annular plates. One of the annular plates is bolted to the supported machine and the other annular plate is referenced to ground. Shock absorbers with adjustable damping constants are tied across from one annular plate to the other annular plate to dampen the torsional vibrations of the annular plate bolted to the supported machine relative to the one referenced to ground.

  • Patent number: 4215533
Abstract: A low noise, high power, light weight, compact rotary expander engine of Wankel type which features minimum unbalanced forces and elimination of balance weights because its rotating parts rotate about their centers of mass. The high inertia of its rotating housing eliminates the need for a flywheel and rotation in a plane normal to the centerline of the engine results in a preferential directivity to any residual disturbing forces. The elimination of balance weights and fly wheel provides a means for minimizing clearance volume from the inlet valve to the working space.

  • Patent number: 4215534
Abstract: A cooling system for a low noise, high power, light weight, compact rotary xpander engine of the Wankel type having two hot zones at the operating temperatures wherein a coolant path is provided which permits the coolest coolant to be delivered at the two hottest points. This increases the heat transfer area exposed to the coolant and delivers and rejects the coolant with an absolute minimum of plumbing.

  • Patent number: 4187740
Abstract: A gear planet carrier assembly which provides accurate alignment of multi-planet clusters of gears relative to a sun gear and a ring gear in a dense epicyclic multiple branch system of a double reduction gear system while insuring torsional and lateral stiffness. Planet carrier assembly is made of a light material to keep the overall weight and inertia of the system low.

  • Patent number: 4089162
Abstract: An accommodating device for thermal transient expansions in an expander ene wherein a configured valve support includes a spring-nut arrangement for controlling and minimizing the force changes due to the temperature variations of the valve because of the hot gases passing therethrough. This results in a consistent valve performance.

  • Patent number: 4083094
Abstract: Apparatus and method for gear tooth alignment by accommodation in more than one stage gear cluster assembly. This arrangement essentially isolates the mass of one gear member in a cluster assembly from that of the other and makes the effective mass at the gear mesh to be equal to or less than that of a gear on either end of the gear shaft with respect to its connected masses. This permits a design for extremely high power ratio for a gear train by isolating inertias of the elements and reducing dynamic loads and forming a torsionally soft shaft to allow alignment of the gear teeth by accommodation by allowing the unbalanced load in between the gears to enable the gears to mesh together.
