  • Patent number: 9941836
Abstract: The present invention relates to a transient current and voltage protection device for electrical energy conversion systems connected to the power grid, comprising a diode bridge connected between the power grid and the power section of said inverter, upstream of the main filtering inductors.

Date of Patent: April 10, 2018
    Assignee: ABB Schweiz AG
    Inventors: Sauro Macerini, Giovanni Manchia
  • Publication number: 20170222439
Abstract: A photovoltaic inverter apparatus adapted to be connected at the input to a photovoltaic panel and at the output to a public electric grid and to a user, wherein said inverter apparatus comprises a DC input stage adapted to receive DC electricity generated by said photovoltaic panel; an alternating conversion stage coupled to said input stage, adapted to convert said DC electricity into alternating electricity and to supply it at the output, wherein said alternating conversion stage is configured to transform said alternating electric energy flow in a selective manner; connection means for selectively connecting said alternating conversion stage to the electric grid or to an isolated load in single-phase or two-wire mode, or in three-phase mode.

  • Patent number: 9712082
Abstract: A method for acquiring values indicative of an AC current generable by an inverting stage of an inverter. The method includes at least a first line and a second line for providing a path for AC current between the inverting stage and the output stage. A current sensor is operatively associated to the first and second lines and configured in such a way to generate a signal as a function of the sum between the AC current flowing in the first line and the AC current flowing in the second line. The method may also include driving the inverting stage in such a way that the AC current in the first line has a first high-frequency ripple during a first-half of the current period, and in such a way that the AC current in the second line has a second high-frequency ripple during a second-half of the current period.
