  • Publication number: 20070156669
Abstract: Methods and systems for extending keyword searching techniques to syntactically and semantically annotated data are provided. Example embodiments provide a Syntactic Query Engine (“SQE”) that parses, indexes, and stores a data set as an enhanced document index with document terms as well as information pertaining to the grammatical roles of the terms and ontological and other semantic information. In one embodiment, the enhanced document index is a form of term-clause index, that indexes terms and syntactic and semantic annotations at the clause level. The enhanced document index permits the use of a traditional keyword search engine to process relationship queries as well as to process standard document level keyword searches. This abstract is provided to comply with rules requiring an abstract, and it is submitted with the intention that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims.

  • Publication number: 20050021517
Abstract: An extension of an inverse inference search engine is disclosed which provides cross language document retrieval, in which the information matrix used as input to the inverse inference engine is organized into rows of blocks corresponding to languages within a predetermined set of natural languages. The information matrix is further organized into two column-wise partitions. The first partition consists of blocks of entries representing fully translated documents, while the second partition is a matrix of blocks of entries representing documents for which translations are not available in all of the predetermined languages. Further in the second partition, entries in blocks outside the main diagonal of blocks are zero. Another disclosed extension to the inverse inference retrieval document retrieval system supports automatic, knowledge based training.

  • Patent number: 4363225
Abstract: The frame of a creel includes vertical support columns rigidly interconnected at their upper ends by a framework arranged so as to permit the frame to be positioned astride a circular-knitting machine with the columns disposed around the machine itself and with the framework at a height such as not to interfere with the movement of personnel about the machine. A vertically-movable slide is associated with each column, the slides being rigidly interconnected by a peripheral bobbin-carrier support structure. A driving device is provided for raising and lowering all the slides in unison in order to raise the peripheral structure to an upper position at a height at which it does not interfere with the movement of personnel about the machine and to lower it, respectively, to a lower position in which the structure surrounds the machine and is located at a height such as to allow manual access to bobbins which are on the bobbin-carrier.

  • Patent number: 4331007
Abstract: A multiple-feed circular knitting machine has an upright-axis needle cylinder coaxially surrounded by an annular base plate and a sector-support plate supported thereon for axial sliding movement relative thereto and in turn supporting sectors of a cam-support ring bearing cams which control the axial movements of needles of the needle cylinder, the sector-support plate being supported by grub screws projecting below the plate and bearing on respective inclined upper faces of equal slope in the same circumferential direction of wedge-shaped blocks fixed to a setting ring carried on the base plate, and the machine having a graduated control which operates a pinion meshed with peripheral teeth of the setting ring to rotate the ring in either sense relative to the sector-support and base plates to make the grub screws ride up or down the respective inclined faces to raise or lower the cams supported from the sector-support plate by the same amount simultaneously to adjust the vertical movements of the needles.

  • Patent number: 4194375
Abstract: An apparatus for adjusting the thread feed rate and hence the thread tension of a multiple-feed circular knitting machine includes transducer means in the form of a resiliently biased rocker mountable on the machine. The rocker can operate one of two microswitches whenever the tension of a thread engaging the transducer is greater than a predetermined value and can operate the other when it is less than the predetermined value. The microswitches control the energization of a servomotor operable to increase or decrease the speed of a rotary drive for driving the machine's thread feed device as necessary in order to bring the thread tension to the predetermined value.
