  • Patent number: 6204217
Abstract: Process for the preparation of a micro-mesoporous gel consisting of a silica matrix in which one or more metal oxides are possibly dispersed comprising: (a) subjecting to hydrolysis and gelification a tetra-alkylorthosilicate with an alkyl-trimethylammonium hydroxide having the formula R(CH3)3N—OH, wherein R is selected from n-butyl, n-pentyl, n-hexyl and n-heptyl, possibly in the presence of one or more metal compounds, the molar ratios in this mixture being: R—OH/SiO2=0-10; R(CH3)3N—OH/SiO2=0.05-0.4; H2O/SiO2=5-40; metal oxides/SiO2=0-0.02; whereas the ratio H2O/R(CH3)3N—OH varies according to the number of carbon atoms in the alkylic chain R as follows: R=n-butyl, H2O/R(CH3-)3N—OH<35; R=n-pentyl, H2O/R(CH3)3N—OH<70; R=n-hexyl, H2O/R(CH3)3N—OH<102; R=n-heptyl, H2O/R(CH3)3N—OH<136; (b) subjecting the gel or solid obtained in step (a) to drying and calcination.

  • Patent number: 4833229
Abstract: A thermotropic copolyester, having a nematic structure of the liquid-crystalline phase within a desired range of mesophase temperature, contains units derived from a saturated aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, 4,4'-dihydroxy-biphenyl and p-hydroxybenzoic acid, in a mutual ratio of from 1:1:0.5 to 1:1:8.This thermotropic copolyester is produced by copolymerizing in the molten state a saturated aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, 4,4'-diacyloxybiphenyl and p-acyloxybenzoic acid. The use is disclosed of the thermotropic copolyester as a self-reinforced material, and as a reinforcer material for such traditional thermoplastic polymers as polybutylene terephthalate, polyethylene terephthalate, polycarbonate and nylon.

  • Patent number: 4600756
Abstract: Novel polyacetylene films are disclosed, having the following properties:elongation at break (1/10): higher than 4tensile strength: higher than 100 MPaability of attaining under stretch high levels of molecular orientation in the direction of pull. The process for preparing such polyacetylene films is also described.

  • Patent number: 4431621
Abstract: An improved process is disclosed for producing alumino-silicates having a porous structure, of the zeolite class, the process essentially comprising the step of preparing a homogeneous aqueous mixture containing a source of alumina, a source of silica and alkali metal bases and/or alkaline earth metal bases, the improvement consisting in adding to said mixture at least one substance which contains at least a hydroxyl group in its molecule. The advantages are that the use of nitrogenous organic substances, universally used heretofore for the preparation of certain zeolites, can be dispensed with inasmuch as the alkali metal ion is capable, alone, of displaying the counter-ion function.

  • Patent number: 4410501
Abstract: This invention relates to a porous crystalline synthetic material constituted by silicon and titanium oxides, a method for synthesizing said material, and the use thereof as a catalyst.Said material is given the name titanium silicalite or TS-1, and corresponds to the following formula:xTiO.sub.2.(1-x)SiO.sub.2where x lies between 0.0005 and 0.04, preferably between 0.01 and 0.025.The material is prepared starting from a mixture constituted by a source of silicon oxide and a source of titanium oxide. The reaction takes place in the aqueous phase at a temperature of 130.degree. to 200.degree. C., and the solid product obtained is calcined in air at 550.degree. C.
