  • Patent number: 8467081
Abstract: The subject application is directed to coordinating document processing operations among devices having differing functionality. A document is received into a first document processing device that has a first set of processing functions. A display is generated on the first device that includes indicia of an available document processing operation having a function of a first set and a secondary function of a second device, with any secondary function outside the first set. Selection data is received of an operation having functions from the first set and one or more secondary functions. Operation of the first device is controlled by a controller operable to control the functions of the first set by the first device on the document. The document is communicated to the second device following completion of any first set functions. The document processing operation is completed by the second device via completion of any secondary functions.

  • Patent number: 8265694
Abstract: The subject application is directed to a system and method for obtaining address data from a portable device to a document processing device. An address book, including address entries accessible via the document processing device, is stored in a data storage associated with a document processing device controller. Selection data is then received from an associated user, following which an address entry is retrieved from the address book. Document processing operations are then commenced in accordance with the retrieved address entries. A portable telecommunication device, proximate to the document processing device, is then discovered via a wireless transceiver. The portable device includes an integrated data storage containing contact data of contact information for contact destinations. After discovery, a data connection is established with the portable telecommunications device over which contact data is received. An entry is then added into the address book corresponding to the received contact data.

  • Publication number: 20110019211
Abstract: The subject application is directed to a system and method altering document output properties in accordance with altering intercepted print stream data. Print stream data is received from an associated data processing device, with the print stream including data corresponding to at least one electronic document and associated processing instruction data. Data representing a preselected data string is stored in a data storage, with the data string corresponding to a document processing command. The data string is stored associatively with secondary document processing instruction data. The received print stream data is compared to the preselected data string, and a coincidence between the print stream data and the preselected data string is detected from the comparison. The secondary document processing operation is inserted into the print stream based upon a detected coincidence.

  • Publication number: 20100041371
Abstract: The subject application is directed to a system and method for mobile telephone-based user authentication. Data records are stored in a data storage, with each data record including a cellular telephone number and pre-set payment mechanism data. Login data is received via a user interface associated with a document processing device that includes a telephone number of a cellular telephone associated with the user. The presence of a data record corresponding to the login data is determined, and operation of the document processing device is commenced upon the presence of a data record in the data storage. A data message is sent to the cellular telephone corresponding to the telephone number of the login data. Confirmation data is received from the cellular telephone responsive to the data message, and an operation on the document processing device is completed in accordance with received confirmation data.

  • Patent number: 7657607
Abstract: A passive server-to-client data delivery system and method is provided. A web service request is received by a server from a client device requesting the performance of a web-based service. The identity of the client device is then ascertained and the server determines that new software is available for the requesting device. The server then performs the requested service and sets a flag indicating the availability of the new software. The response data, including the performed service, is supplemented with the flag data and returned to the client device. The client device, upon receipt of the supplemented response data then initiates a separate update request for the available software, which is then received by the client device and installed.

  • Publication number: 20090248512
Abstract: The subject application is directed to a system and method for selective incorporation of targeted content in remotely rendered documents. An electronic document is first received from an owner. Layout data corresponding to the size and/or position available for placement of secondary content in connection with a rendering of the electronic document is then received. Destination data corresponding to an output destination for a rendering of the electronic document is then received. The secondary content is then retrieved in accordance with the received destination data and formatted based upon the received layout data. The electronic document and the secondary content are then communicated to an output destination in accordance with the received destination data so as to generate a rendered document at the output destination, with the rendered document incorporating the electronic document and secondary content mutually arranged based upon the layout data.

  • Publication number: 20090204879
Abstract: The subject application is directed to a system and method for script language-based document processing. First, an electronic document inclusive of scripted commands is received. Scripted commands are then parsed from the received electronic document. At least one electronic document is then retrieved from an associated storage in accordance with the parsing of the scripted commands from the received electronic document. Thereafter, at least one document processing operation is performed on each retrieved electronic document in accordance with the scripted command parsed from the received electronic document.

  • Publication number: 20090147293
Abstract: The subject application is directed to a system and method for utilization of transferable settings for multiple document output drivers. An initial document output driver associated with a document processing application and at least one document rendering device is first accessed. Next, selected document output settings associated with the initial document output driver are then received from an associated user. A save setting instruction is then received from the associated user via the initial document output driver. Responsive to the received save setting instruction, the selected document output settings are stored in an associated data storage. Thereafter, via at least a second document output driver, the saved document output settings are selectively retrieved so as to configure an output of an associated electronic document via the second document output driver.

  • Publication number: 20080222185
Abstract: The subject application is directed to a system and method for generating date range related document output. User identification data is first received by a document processing device corresponding to an associated user. The user then requests the generation of a date range related document via a user interface associated with the device. Data range related content data, and corresponding pricing data, are then received from an associated storage. A display is then generated via the user interface corresponding to the received content data and the received pricing data. The user then selects desired content data, which is used to generate a data range document. The cost associated with generating the date range related document is then generated. The data range related document, upon receipt of cost authorization, is then rendered by the associated document processing device.

  • Publication number: 20070294380
Abstract: A server-to-client data delivery system and method is provided. The system includes a server capable of providing a variety of services to one or more client devices. Each client device periodically transmits a heartbeat signal to the server over an associated network including client device identification data. When the server fails to receive a heartbeat from an associated client device, an alert signal is generated indicating the non-responsiveness of the associated client device. For each responsive client device, the server performs an identification of the device and determines whether new or updated software, or supplemental data, is available for the client. The server then generates response data including the next heartbeat interval and the software or supplemental data. The response data is then transmitted to the responsive and identified client, whereupon the server proceeds to perform the same process for each responsive and identified client.
