Publication number: 20130063234Abstract: Described are methods and systems for using a planar inductor that includes a magnetically conductive core, a first planar coil and a second planar coil. The first and second planar coils are attached to a first bridge, located about the core, and are composed of a conductive material. The first and second planar coils have at least one thermally conductive surface exposed to cooling fluid. The first planar coil, the first bridge and the second planar coil are formed from a first unitary section of conductive material. The second planar coil is positioned relative to the first planar coil in a spaced relationship, which is defined by a thickness of the first bridge. An upper surface of the first planar coil is oriented toward a lower surface of the second planar coil to define a first cooling channel between the first planar coil and the second planar coil.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 6, 2012Publication date: March 14, 2013Applicant: HYPERTHERM, INC.Inventors: Girish R. Publication number: 20110013887Abstract: Command packets for a personal video recorder that provides for a transport stream (TS) that contains data and also includes a transport packet (TP)/TS formatted command packets. The TP/TS formatted command packet may be communicated between any number of devices, including multiple chips, multiple boards, and multiple processors. A decoder is able to decode the TP/TS formatted command packet and to perform the appropriate operation on data portions of the TS. When a TS is provided to a device not having the capability to perform the proper decoding of the TP/TS formatted command packet, that particular packet may be deemed as being unidentified (or unknown) adaptation field data. Patent number: 7676668Abstract: The subject application is directed to a method and system for notifying an administrator when a user of a document processing device requests a change in the configuration of the device. A user accesses the device via a user interface, requesting alteration of the device configuration. The user then provides identification information and an authentication server determines whether the identified user is authorized to make the configuration change. Access is denied to unverified or unauthorized users attempting to change the configuration of the device. When the user is verified, but not authorized to make the requested change, the authentication server rejects the request and notifies the administrator of the attempt. When the user is both verified and authorized to make a change, the device configuration is altered, conforming to the requested configuration, and a notice is transmitted to the administrator containing information about the change in configuration.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 2007Date of Patent: March 9, 2010Assignees: Toshiba Corporation, Toshiba Tec Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Michael Yeung, Amir Shahindoust, Girish R. Publication number: 20090288147Abstract: The subject application is directed to a system and method for modifying at least one security function of an associated document processing device. Data representing security functions of the document processing device is stored in associated memory. Login data is then received from an administrator via an associated user interface. Selection data is received corresponding to a security function on the document processing device to be enabled. The selected security function is then selectively enabled via the document processing device. Enhanced mode selection data is then received from the administrator corresponding to an enhanced security mode of operation. Each security function associated with the enhanced mode is simultaneously enabled. Operations of the document processing device are thereafter controlled in accordance with each selectively enabled security function.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 10, 2009Publication date: November 19, 2009Inventors: Michael Yeung, Amir Shahindoust, Girish R. Publication number: 20090119755Abstract: The subject application is directed to a system and method for controlling access to a document processing device based on roles assigned to user groups. Each group of users has certain functions for which they are authorized to use a document processing device. The device determines the group to which the user belongs, and then determines those functions of the device for which the group is authorized. The device then compares the requested function with the authorized functions to determine if the group to which the user belongs is allowed to use the document processing device for the requested function. The document processing device then performs the authorized requested function or denies use of the device for an unauthorized function.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 12, 2009Publication date: May 7, 2009Inventors: Marianne L. Patent number: 7506160Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method for adding data encryption services to a document processing device. Encryption enablement software, which includes two alternate encryption mechanisms, is received by an associated document processing device. The device then awaits an associated user's selection of an electronic document file to be encrypted and subsequently encrypts the file using one of the available encryption mechanisms. The electronic document file is divided into blocks having a preselected length. An encryption key block containing first and second key portions, is then generated. The electronic data file is then encrypted using the first encryption key portion to form first level encryption data. The first level encryption data is then decrypted using the second encryption key portion to form second level encryption data. The second level encryption data is then encrypted using the first key portion to form a final encrypted electronic document file.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 2004Date of Patent: March 17, 2009Assignees: Toshiba Corporation, Toshiba Tec Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Girish R.
