Abstract: One example method includes obtaining respective information concerning each asset in a group of assets, performing a deduplication check to identify an entity that will perform deduplication of backups of the assets, based on the information obtained concerning the group of assets, and based on an outcome of the deduplication check, sizing one or more proxy instances that will be needed to create the backups, spawning the proxy instances, and using the proxy instances to create the backups of the data assets.

Abstract: Methods and systems of scanning for resources for resource classification in a multi cloud environment are disclosed. For a combination of a cloud account, a cloud region, and a resource type, a percentage of protected existent resources hosted on the cloud computing platform is determined. A cycle skip count is set based on the determined percentage of the protected existent resources hosted on the cloud computing platform. The percentage of the protected existent resources and the cycle skip count associated with the combination are stored in a catalog. For the combination of the cloud account, the cloud region, and the resource type, the protected existent resources hosted on the cloud computing platform are periodically scanned for based on the cycle skip count.

Abstract: A backup manager for providing backup services to clients includes storage for storing a priority list. The backup manager also includes a processor programmed to obtain a request to generate a backup for a client of the clients; make a determination that the client is a high restoration priority client using the priority list; in response to the determination: obtain a raw disk backup for the client; and store the raw disk backup in backup storage in raw disk format.

Abstract: One example method includes collecting information concerning respective data access patterns of one or more customers, using the information, and work window information, to calculate a respective data retrieval frequency for each of the customers, and enabling the customers to retrieve data according to their respective data retrieval frequency. The collected information may be weighted prior to calculation of the data retrieval frequency, and the data retrieval frequency may be updated automatically in response to changes in customer data.
