  • Patent number: 9660904
Abstract: A method for inserting an OpenFlow flow entry into a flow table is disclosed. In the embodiment, the method involves receiving a flow mod message at an OpenFlow-enabled switch, the flow mod message including a cookie field, decoding an OpenFlow flow entry from the flow mod message, identifying a flow table from the cookie field, and inserting the decoded flow entry into the flow table.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 10, 2015
Date of Patent: May 23, 2017
    Assignee: Alcatel Lucent

  • Patent number: 9374236
Abstract: In one embodiment, a first network device is configured to receive from a second network device a site-type attribute of the second network device, and to control establishment of a tunnel between the first network device and the second network device based at least in part on the received site-type attribute. The site-type attribute may be received in the first network device as part of a Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) message transmitted by the second network device to the first network device, and may comprise a Multicast Virtual Private Network (MVPN) site-type attribute indicating whether the second network device is a sender site of the MVPN. Controlling establishment of the tunnel between the first network device and the second network device may comprise preventing setup of the tunnel if the received site-type attribute indicates that the second network device is a sender site of the MVPN.

  • Patent number: 8885484
Abstract: A method for detecting faults associated with a tunnel delivering multicast traffic from a source provider edge router (PE) to each of a plurality of destination PEs, the method using a routing protocol such as BGP to communicate route information to destination PEs, and a fault detection protocol such as BFD to detect tunnel faults.
