  • Patent number: 9669429
Abstract: A method and a device for transporting and processing a number of objects, especially mail items, include transporting the objects in a number of transport processes to a respective processing system. At least one processing attribute as well as a feature is measured at the object before the transport processes. A data record with the processing attribute value and the feature value are stored. After the transport processes, the feature is measured again for each object, and the stored data record is determined. A search area restriction which is based on a sequence of feature values is undertaken for the determination. The processing system processes the object depending on the processing attribute value of the determined data record.

  • Patent number: 9600941
Abstract: An image, which can be analyzed by a computer and shows at least one face of an item, is generated for an item that is to be transported at a predefined time. By automatic analysis of the image, the arrangement determines, for at least one of a plurality of predetermined optically detectable features, the value of the feature for the image of the item. The identification feature value vector generated is automatically compared with stored registration feature value vectors. A record for a particular item contains six registration feature value vectors and each of the six registration feature value vectors specifies a value for each predefined optically detectable feature for each one of six faces of the item. When the identification feature value vector matches a stored registration feature value vector with sufficient accuracy, a message is generated.

  • Publication number: 20160210587
Abstract: A method documents the delivery process for objects, in particular packages or letters, in which method, in the time span between receiving the objects for the purpose of transporting them and the final delivery of the objects at the target location, the objects are each detected individually and stored, in the form of a data set in a database and, after delivery of each object at the target location, the object is designated as delivered. Accordingly, within the framework of individually detecting the objects, target geodata which define the respective target locations are added to the respective data sets. When the objects are delivered at the target location, delivery geodata which define the location of the delivery are determined by a mobile detection device. The association of the delivered object with one of the data sets stored in the database requires that the target geodata correspond to the delivery geodata.

  • Patent number: 9333539
Abstract: A method and device for processing and transporting items, particularly mail items, measure a processing attribute for each item. A value which each predefined feature assumes for the item is measured. A data record for the item is generated including the measured feature values and the measured processing attribute value. The item is transferred into an intermediate storage device, into a transport device and to a processing system. After reaching the processing system, a value is newly measured which each predefined feature assumes for this item. The data record generated for this item is determined using the feature values from the new measurement. If this item has an identification read clearly during the new measurement, the data record is determined based on this identification. Otherwise, a search with a restricted search space is executed. The processing system processes the item using the processing attribute value in the determined data record.

  • Patent number: 8467569
Abstract: A method and an apparatus transport an article of mail. During a first decision-making process, an image of the article is generated and evaluated to generate a first vector. Further, a transport attribute is measured and stored together with the first vector. The transport of the article is continued on the basis of the measured transport attribute value. During a further decision-making process, an image of the article is generated and evaluated to generate a second vector. The transport attribute value is determined with the aid of the second vector. The transport of the article is continued on the basis of the stored and determined transport attribute value. The article is provided with an optically detectable element. The first vector is generated such that it contains that value assumed by the feature for the article if the surface of the article had already been provided with the optically detectable element.

  • Patent number: 8108424
Abstract: A method and device for transporting a plurality of objects, such as mail items. In a plurality of transport operations, at least one object is transported to a processing system in each case. For each object, two measurements are taken to determine which value is assumed by a predetermined feature for the object. The first measurement is taken before initiating the respective transport operation and the new or second measurement is taken after the transport operation is initiated. For each transport operation, transport operation information concerning which objects are transported together by the transport operation and which predetermined feature value of the objects measured at the time of the first measurement is determined and stored. For each object, a search is then conducted to determine in which transport operation the object was transported. In this case, a restriction is imposed on the search for at least one transport operation.

  • Patent number: 8050794
Abstract: A method and a device for transporting items, in particular mail items. uses multiple transport processes for transporting the items respectively to a processing system. For each item, a measurement is made before the transportation as to whether the item has a predefined characteristic, and if so, in what form. This measurement is executed afresh, after the item is fed to a processing system. For each item, it is determined by means of which transport process the item has been transported. To this end, it is determined which items with what form of the characteristic have been transported by means of which transport process.

  • Publication number: 20110127323
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for transporting a plurality of articles, particularly, mail items. For each article a measurement is taken regarding what value a prescribed feature and what value a prescribed transportation attribute assume for the article. A data record for this article with the measured transportation attribute value and the measured feature value is produced. This data record is stored in a mobile data memory of a means of a transport. The articles are put into the means of transport and transported in the means of transport to an intermediate point. Following this transportation, for each article another measurement is taken regarding what value the feature assumes for this article. The mobile data memory is searched for that data record for the article for which the feature value ascertained during the fresh measurement is used. Further transportation of the article is initiated on the basis of the transportation attribute value of the ascertained data record.

  • Patent number: 7810712
Abstract: A method and a device transport multiple items, in particular mail items, to predefined destination points. The respective destination point and a value of a predefined feature of each item are measured and stored. The item is transported together with other items in a transport device to an intermediate point. The transport device is furnished with a label which has a machine-readable identification. The identification is read. The transport device in which an item was transported is determined by the measure. After transportation to the intermediate point a value of the feature is measured afresh. In order to find a stored data record, a restriction is implemented on the search space to the data records of those items which were transported in the same transport device.

  • Patent number: 7703595
Abstract: A method and device are provided for transporting items, in particular postal consignments. A transport process is performed from an intermediate store to a continuation point. Each item that was conveyed to the intermediate store before generation of a start signal is removed from the intermediate store. The items transported are transferred from the intermediate store into a transport device. A record is stored of which items were conveyed to the intermediate store between generation of the start signal and generation of an end signal. The items transported in the transport device are removed from the transport device. For each item that was transported, a data record that has been stored for the item is determined. The stored data record is determined exclusively from the data records generated for those items that were conveyed to the intermediate store between generation of the start signal and generation of the end signal.
