  • Patent number: 9010081
Abstract: A power plant includes a gas turbine unit adapted to feed flue gases into a boiler of a steam turbine unit, to be then diverted into a recirculated flow and discharged flow. The recirculated flow is mixed with fresh air forming a mixture that is fed into a gas turbine unit compressor. The discharged flow is fed into a CO2 capture unit that is an amine based or chilled ammonia based CO2 capture unit. A cooler for the flue gases can be configured as a shower cooler located upstream of the CO2 capture unit. The plant can also include a washing unit to neutralize ammonia drawn by the flue gases that can be fed with nitric acid gathered at the cooler.

  • Publication number: 20130319303
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method of milling a fuel for an oxy-fuel combustion burner, the method includes: separating air into a hot nitrogen gas stream, having a temperature of at least 150° C. and a purity of at least 98 mol-% nitrogen, and an oxygen gas stream; leading at least a part of the nitrogen gas stream to a fuel mill; milling the fuel by means of the fuel mill in a nitrogen rich atmosphere formed by means of the nitrogen gas stream; leading the at least a part of the nitrogen gas stream away from the milled fuel; leading the oxygen gas stream to the oxy-fuel combustion burner; conveying the milled fuel to the oxy-fuel combustion burner; and burning the fuel, by means of the oxy-fuel combustion burner, in an oxygen rich atmosphere formed by means of the oxygen gas stream. The present disclosure further relates to a system for milling a fuel for an oxy-fuel combustion burner as well as to a power plant comprising such a system.

  • Patent number: 8486361
Abstract: A flue gas stream processing system includes a fuel reactor for combusting a fuel to generate a flue gas stream including water vapor, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. The system includes an oxidation catalyst downstream of the fuel reactor, the oxidation catalyst configured to receive the flue gas stream and oxidize the carbon monoxide to form a carbon dioxide rich flue gas stream, and a processing unit to liquefy carbon dioxide in the carbon dioxide rich flue gas stream and generate an exhaust gas.

  • Patent number: 7235223
Abstract: In a method for operating a flue gas purification plant (10) including a plurality of parallel of absorber chambers (11), in which in each absorber chamber (11), CO and NO are simultaneously oxidized by a catalyst in a first absorber (15) according to the SCONOx principle and the resulting NO2 is absorbed on the catalyst surface, in which SO2 is furthermore oxidized by a catalyst in a second absorber (14) upstream of the first absorber (15) according to the SCOSOx principle and the resulting SO3 is absorbed on the catalyst surface. The absorber chambers (11) are successively regenerated by a regeneration gas containing hydrogen and/or hydrogen compounds in regularly repeating regeneration cycles affecting all the absorber chambers (11). In order to improve reliability and reduce operating costs in such a method, the regeneration time of the second absorber (14) within the regeneration cycle is respectively selected to be long enough to guarantee sufficient regeneration of the second absorber (14).
