Abstract: In an embodiment, a system and method models a business process object. The system and method provides a business object template having a plurality of data nodes, actions, and queries. One or more business process objects are instantiated from the business object template. The one or more business objects are associated with one or more master data objects. The one or more business process objects are then enabled to require an approval before changing a value of a data node in the one or more master data objects. The approval is a standardized approval process resulting from the instantiation of the business process object from the business object template.
