  • Publication number: 20230301299
Abstract: Cleaning compositions that include carvacrol, in an amount sufficient to provide an antimicrobial effect. For example, the compositions can include 0.1% to 2% by weight of carvacrol. The cleaning compositions advantageously further include a surfactant, particularly an anionic surfactant, which enhances the antimicrobial efficacy characteristics of the carvacrol. For example, the composition can include at least 0.1%, at least 0.3%, or at least 0.5% of one or more anionic surfactants. Alkyl sulfates (e.g., C8 to C12 alkyl sulfates) are particularly suitable. A buffer may also be present. The compositions may have a relatively high pH, e.g., 9 to 12. The cleaning composition may exhibit a significant log reduction against a target microorganism (e.g., Staphylococcus aureus and/or others) within a given time period (e.g., 10 minutes, 5 minutes, or the like), when used on a target surface.

  • Publication number: 20070059755
Abstract: A selective targeting method is disclosed which comprises contacting a peptide library with an anti-target to allow the peptides to bind; separating non-binding peptides from the anti-target bound peptides, contacting the non-binding anti-target peptides with a target allowing the unbound peptides to bind with the target to form a target-bound peptide complex; separating the target-bound peptide complex from peptides which do not bind to the target, and identifying the target-bound peptides. In one embodiment the target is skin or hair. In another embodiment the anti-target is hair when the target is skin, and the anti-target is skin when the target is hair.

  • Publication number: 20050058996
Abstract: The present application relates to peptides which bind to a target stain, phenol oxidizing enzyme-binding peptide complexes wherein the binding peptide is attached to the C-terminus of the phenol oxidizing enzyme or is inserted or substituted into the phenol oxidizing enzyme. In a preferred embodiment the phenol oxidizing enzyme is a laccase specifically Stachybotrys oxidase B and variants thereof. The invention provides expression vectors comprising the phenol oxidizing enzyme-binding peptide complex as well as host cells comprising the vectors.
