  • Patent number: 4137616
Abstract: A method of producing a clad shaped body by roll-bond cladding of a sandwich-like cladding package closed on all sides, which is evacuated before being heated to rolling temperature employs a metallic intermediate layer comprised of a pure iron sheet provided between the base material comprised of steel and the cladding material comprised of titanium.

Assignee: Vereinigte Osterreichische Eisen- und Stahlwerke - Alpine Montan Aktiengesellschaft
    Inventors: Giswalt Veitl, Ekkehard Auer
  • Patent number: 4041749
Abstract: In a method and apparatus for producing sheets or plates by hot rolling slabs in a number of passes, the slabs are alternately deformed more strongly and less strongly between a pair of rolls at least in one pass, and when the slabs are less strongly deformed, a condition according to which .alpha.' is equal to or smaller than .rho. is observed, while when the slabs are more strongly deformed, a condition according to which .rho. is smaller than .alpha. smaller than 2 .rho. is observed, .alpha. and .alpha.' being the angles of engagement and .rho. being the angle of friction, and differences in thickness in longitudinal direction of the slabs are levelled out in a subsequent pass.

  • Patent number: 4007064
Abstract: A process for producing surface-decarburized steel sheets or plates involves the formation of a package or pile by alternately superimposing decarburizing high alloy chromium steel sheet layer(s) and the steel sheets(s) or plate(s) on each other. Edge welding seams are applied to the package or pile, which is then heated to rolling temperature and rolled, subsequently annealed in the carbide-forming range, and then separated.

  • Patent number: 3981426
Abstract: A corrosion-resistant structural shape, clad by rolling and welding, has a base material consisting of an austenitic manganese steel and a cladding material containing alloy elements tending to phase precipitations. In a method of producing a structural shape of the above described type from a cladding pile composed sandwich-like of two base material plates and two smaller cladding sheet bars, a separating layer is inserted between the cladding sheet bars and the gap surrounding the cladding sheet bars is closed all around by means of weld strips fused with the base material plates. First the edges of the base material plates are ground beveled and then the ground-off material is replaced by building-up welding layers of carbon steel. The pile is composed and the weld strips are inserted and connected with the claddings by means of root seams along the circumference of the pile.
