  • Publication number: 20140377072
Abstract: In one aspect, a rotor blade for a wind turbine includes a body extending between a root end and a tip end. The body may include a root portion extending from the root end. The root portion may include an inner surface defining an inner circumference. In addition, the rotor blade may include a root stiffener disposed at least partially within the root portion of the body. The root stiffener may include a plurality of arms extending radially from the inner surface and may be configured to extend circumferentially around only a portion of the inner circumference of the root portion.

  • Publication number: 20140064971
Abstract: In one aspect, a stiffener plate for coupling a rotor blade to a hub of a wind turbine is disclosed. The stiffener plate may generally include a mounting flange configured to be coupled to at least one of the rotor blade or the hub. The mounting flange may define an inner perimeter and a center point. In addition, the stiffener plate may include a web extending from the inner perimeter towards the center point. The web may define a cross-sectional width that varies between the inner perimeter and the center point.

  • Publication number: 20140003946
Abstract: A rotor for a wind turbine is disclosed. The rotor includes a hub, a rotor blade, and a bearing assembly configured to rotate the rotor blade with respect to the hub. The rotor further includes an insert, the insert including a first end, a second end, and a body extending therebetween. The first end is coupled to the bearing assembly and the second end is coupled to the rotor blade. The second end defines a second plane oriented at a cone angle with respect to a first plane defined by the first end.
