Abstract: A joint construction includes first and second conduit sections having coaxially overlapping end areas. A coupling member has a first end received within the end of the first conduit section and a second end with external threads. A bore of the coupling member receives the second section end area. A plurality of protrusions are formed on an outer surface of the coupling member. The plurality of protrusions engage a plurality of complimentary features formed on the end area of the first conduit section. A gland nut has threads configured to engage the external threads of the second end of the coupling member. A washer is disposed on the second conduit section between the second end of the coupling member and the gland nut. The washer is configured to engage the end area of the second conduit section to resist relative axial movement between the first and second conduit sections.

Abstract: A coupling system for conduit and pipe is disclosed. First and second conduit sections are disclosed, each of which has first and second ends. The first end has an outside diameter, and the second end has a belled portion with an inside diameter greater than the outside diameter of the first end. The belled portion has an aperture and a raised lip surrounding the aperture. A threaded fastener is rotatably disposed in the aperture and engages threads of the aperture and an inner surface of the raised lip. The raised lip has a predetermined lip height that is selected to provide a minimum number of full threads engagement between the belled portion and the threaded fastener to ensure the belled portion has a predetermined pull out strength. Abstract: Apparatus is provided for the continuous production of tubing from steel strip. The formed tubing is continuously advanced along a straight-line path through polishing and buffing units to provide a smooth lustrous finish to the tubing, and through a coating chamber in which the tubing is coated with a polymer coating to prevent tarnishing of the lustrous polished surface. The finished tubing has a surface which is suitble for decorative applications such as furniture or the like.
