  • Publication number: 20240097523
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an electric motor provided with liquid cooling means to avoid overheating. The electric motor includes a frame that develops along a longitudinal axis, a first and a second endshield connected at opposite ends of the frame, a stator assembly, and a rotor assembly, wherein the stator assembly is arranged, at least partially, in a longitudinal cavity of the frame and wherein the rotor assembly is arranged, at least partially, in a longitudinal space defined by the stator assembly and supported, at opposite ends, by the endshields so as to rotate about the longitudinal axis. The electric motor further includes liquid cooling means to dissipate the heat generated during the operation of the electric motor. The cooling means include a plurality of circulation channels defined through the frame for the circulation of a cooling fluid, and at least one hydraulic connecting channel.

  • Patent number: 10855151
Abstract: A method of balancing a rotor and/or fixing rotor components includes arranging a plurality of generally like laminations side by side in a stack to form at least a part of a rotor. The rotor has a rotational center axis and each of the laminations having a plurality of apertures that cooperate to form passages that extend axially along a length of the stack. In accordance with an aspect of the method, a polymer based fixation material is filled in the passages in a manner to fix the laminations together in the stack. With the fixation material, a sprue is formed, projecting from an axial face of the stack. In accordance with another aspect of the method, a weight of the sprue is adjusted to rotationally balance the rotor about the rotor center axis.

  • Patent number: 10574174
Abstract: A method for operating an electrical machine having a stator and having a rotor with permanent magnets, includes: running the electrical machine; determining, while performing the running of the electrical machine, whether the permanent magnets have been demagnetized; finding, while running the electrical machine, the q-axis responsive to a determination that the permanent magnets have been demagnetized; firing a current pulse through the stator, while running the electrical machine, when the q-axis reaches a desired position relative to a selected stator phase, wherein the current pulse is constructed to remagnetize the permanent magnets; and continuing to run the electrical machine.

  • Patent number: 10476328
Abstract: A rotor for an electric motor is provided. The rotor is constructed of a stack of first and second laminations. The laminations include segments and insulated regions between the segments. The first laminations include interconnections such that the first laminations are self-supporting. The second laminations are affixed to the first laminations to support the segments of the second laminations.
